Peace All:

I found this map online. It purportedly lists all of the "Sundown Towns" - cities in which African-Americans weren't welcome, particularly at night - in the US.

The book Sundown Towns, written by James Loewen, author of Lies My Teacher Told Me, gives historical first-hand accounts of people who experienced this kind of "Get Out Of Town" racism.

Actually I live in Delaware and both those places listed are wrong. Wilmington is a majority black city. Rehoboth Beach is called San Fransico East because so many gays/Lesbians own Big businesses and they openly walk hand in hand, kiss in public etc. None of the towns in Delaware are sundown towns anymore. The only one that I know used to be one was Felton. And I heard about that from my grandfather. But its so many blacks, asians, hispanics, Indians in DE now. Plus its a shit load of interracials couples. You would be surprised just how often you see a white grandparnet with black grandkids.

Peace,

I think this is a historical map. I've been to Rehoboth Beach several times myself and I agree with your assessment. At any rate, I can't imagine that "Sundown Towns" are as prevalent today as they were years ago.
