Manny Pacquiao: Antonio Margarito knowingly used plaster inserts against Shane Mosley

Add Manny Pacquiao to the list of folks who say Antonio Magarito knowingly fitted hardened plaster inserts into his hand wraps before his January 2009 fight against Shane Mosley.

"Of course, I believe he knew, he's the one who wraps his hands," said Pacquiao at a news conference in Beverly Hills on Tuesday. "...he made a mistake."

Pacquiao says he will designate someone from his camp to supervise Margarito's hand-wrapping process prior to their scheduled super-welterweight title bout at Cowboys Stadium outside Dallas on Nov. 13.

We'll have more from Tuesday's news conference later at latimes.com/sports.

Ishe Smith Sets His Sights on Returning James Kirkland

By Ryan Burton

Junior middleweight contender Ishe Smith wants to let the world know he wants to be James Kirkland's opponent when Kirkland returns to the ring for he first time after serving his prison stint. Smith told BoxingScene.com, "my advisor Ray Campbell called me and asked what I thought about fighting James Kirkland and I told him let's do this."

Kirkland is tentatively scheduled to return to the ring on November 6th in Austin, Texas on an HBO doubleheader that may also include Robert Guerrero. Golden Boy is currently looking for opponents for Kirkland and Guerrero. Smith reasoned, "I want to go back to 154 and Kirkland needs to get some rounds in. Sounds like a perfect fit to me."

Smith has recently fought competitive bouts with Fernando Guerrero and Danny
Jacobs. Smith would give the heavy handed Kirkland rounds which is what he needs
to shake off the ring rust.

That's an eliminator if I ever saw one. If Smith loses, he may be done as a major fighter. I like him wanting to take on a tough, if rusty, opponent. I'm hoping this fight gets made.
2010 is looking to end quite nicely. Boxing fans deserve a good ending to a bad year.
