Ladies, my girl has been complaining about her skin getting darker, this may be due to the fact that she has gained weight and had a baby, which was 2 years ago. Her neck has gotten darker and she is suffering from dark spots on her face. I have read that lemon juice works, but are there any other methods that you know of or have tried. Thanks in advance.

could be a number of things. Everything should be handled by a professional. She may just need to get a chemical peel to take off a layer of bad skin. There is also processes (i dont know why anyone would want to do it) that will make you skin lighter. Once again all these things should be done by a professional. She should start using a product with retinol in it. Retinol helps prevent the signs of aging.

This seems to be a legit question, why don't you answer the brother's question?? My brother, you should have her go to a dermatologist. However, you might want to look into Godiva or Makari.

If she just wants to reduce dark spots she can try some Ambi, which is an over the counter cream... Naturally she could start eating better and drinking more water and applying shea butter instead of lotion...

in conjunction w/ the rest of the serious answers, has she been to her general physician?

is it a dark ring around her neck or just her entire neck? i read somewhere that a dark ring around the neck can be an indication of diabetes...which is y i say, have her go to the doctor.

but def go see a derm, i have skin issues too...as a matter of fact, i need to move up my appointment...thanks for the reminder ;)

Hmmm... Does she also have darkness in the creases of her groin area? Anyway, she may have Diabetes Type 2 or else she may be becoming insulin-insensitive. It's called acanthosis nigricans. She should definitely go to see her doctor about it to find out if she's actually diabetic. I think she would have had the tests done when she was pregnant, but she may not be full out diabetic yet. She can reverse it if she gets the weight under control and changes the things she eats.

i hear lotion with mercury mixed in it works...that's what the indians (india) use to become shades lighter....

 I agree with this. ..

How long ago did she have the baby? It could be gestational diabetes too.

Thanks and now that many of you have mentioned it, she may have diabetes. She has been having some chest pains as well and is very irritable, she now weighs more than during her pregnancy, I definitely appreciate the responses. Need to get the health right so things don't get worse.
