I've been online and on various message boards and have been unable to find this answer.
I'm interested in making a digital magazine for tablet devices. There will be original art in the magazines. Sometimes, the art might be renditions of established franchise characters, like Spider-Man or whatever.
Assuming that i have the ARTIST's permission to publish this material within my iPad mag, and assuming that he/she signs a release allowing me to publish said material within this format, do i need another release from, say, Marvel Comics if the artist does a rendition of one of their characters?
