Mac OS X Mountain Lion 10.8 Build 12A269 Golden Master [MAC & PC Hackintosh] | 4.33 GB

In hardware and software development, a golden master is the reference model from which copies are mass-produced. An analogy is made to the production of certain types of physical media. In that process, a mold is cast in gold, from which subsequent copies are derived.
The golden master is usually the release to manufacturing (RTM) version, and therefore the first public/commercial version. It represents the development stage of "RTM" (Release To Manufacturing). Reaching this stage is said to be "going gold", or "gone golden".

Installation goes through Disk Utility. Simply select the partition and restore the OS.
This will take you no more than 3-4 minutes!
No changes to the system was conducted.
When you first log in, you will pass the user registration selecting: user name, password, time zone, etc.

System Requirements:
OS X Mountain Lion requires a Mac with a 64-bit kernel. Mountain Lion supports the following Mac models:
• iMac (mid 2007 or later)
• MacBook (13-inch Aluminum, 2008), (13-inch, Early 2009 or later)

oh shit, that was quick...and right on time.

jesus man, who the fuck are you?

That shyt is not necessary at all!!! I'm a Mac HEAD, but this release is showing how Apple is trying to force you into copping all them Apple portables, if you want maximum interoperability with these "new" Mountain Lion features.

I'm about to go ahead and drop it on My iMac 27.. just did a full backup just in case...

Real talk. All I hear when listening to those ads is "we control all of your data and programs."
I'm staying on Snow Leopard.

Any Reviews? Has anyone installed and used it yet? Divine?

Been using it for a week. Just run the image file from your desktop, it will unpack for a few mins then restart. After about 10-20 mins it will be fully installed. All my plugins, installed software remained full intact, nothing is missing.

Only thing I did for good measure after installing was I went to the Disk Utility and ran "Repair Disk Permissions" and then continued to reset PRAM about 3 times.

Working great. No errors yet, been using it for about a week, have typed several papers with office, been online, no issues.
:)

Repair Disk Permissions

Mac OS X assigns specific access privileges, known as permissions, to all of your programs, folders, and documents. These permissions are usually managed automatically, but when a permissions error occurs, it can cause significant problems. For example, your applications may not launch, or your computer might respond slowly. These problems are more likely to occur after you update your operating system or install new software.

I run it every 2 to 3 weeks.

Reset PRAM (why)

There are times when your Mac will just start misbehaving. Video settings getting reset, fans start running at full speed, keyboard lights don’t come on when they should. This is most likely to happen following a hardware upgrade, extended power outage or even a major software upgrade (like Lion). In those cases, sometimes you need to reset your Mac’s parameter random access memory (PRAM) or system management controller (SMC) to get things running smoothly again.

Most Mac users don't think much about their Mac's PRAM, but it works hard anyway, keeping track of the following:

Startup volume

Speaker volume

Display settings (resolution, color depth, refresh rate, number of displays, etc.)

DVD region settings

Date and time, including time zone
When your Mac starts up, it checks the PRAM to see which volume to boot from and how to set other important parameters.

Occasionally, the data stored in the PRAM is bad, which can cause various issues with your Mac, including the following common PRAM-related problems:

Wrong date, time, or time zone.

Speaker volume set too loud or too soft.

Display problems. Sometimes you'll see the gray Apple boot screen and then the display will go blank. Other times you'll see a message that the resolution or refresh rate is out of range.

Wrong startup volume.

A question mark (?) at startup followed by a long delay before your Mac starts up.

Okay, I'm about to back up a few essential programs.....will be back in a few(crossed-fingered) after I upgrade!!!

Black what have you noticed so far ?
When I went from 10.4 to 10.6 I noticed that the OS was faster, more responsive.
Is it the same with 10.8 ? How is the memory usage ?

Cool. Report back after the install.

Well, right of the bat I got this error message:

"An error occurred while preparing the installation. Try running this application again."

Update: Very important the installation file must be installed from the APPLICATION folder and ran from their. If not, you will get the error I got....

I will be back with a review of mountain lion

I just replaced the hard drive in my 06 macbook pro 15" A1150... Will this work, because I don't have the old installation disk

knowin how you get down, i'm assuming they are, but i have to ask are these links interchangeable?

Note: this is not for dual booted systems, I.e. Master boot record setups.
you need to use the MBR patch, which i have tried and failed. still looking for a good guide.

unless i am wrong, then i apologize black.

In what applications do I find these options. I definitely need the PRAM function..

Not sure what you mean by this but I was able to setup a seperate partition from my Lion
Os to setup Mountain. Im able to load either operating system during boot time, so far no issues

How to install:
1. You can install it as a Clean install on a new partition or you can upgrade it on your own previous Mac OS X.
2. Download the iso or dmg and burn it to a DVD with minimum speed
3. You can install using DVD or just mounting the iso or dmg
4. When finished just restart your Mac and before hearing the sound keep ALT pressed so that you can enter boot menu
5. When the boot menu is shown just choose the CD/DVD and start following the screen instructions its pretty the same as Mac OS X Lion installation instructions.

Os to setup Mountain. Im able to load either operating system during boot time, so far no issues

So I take it you ended up getting it up and running?

I installed this over Lion, because I didn't want to back up all my music, movies and settings and I've had no problems and everything works. Even tho Serato and Itch does not officially have a update for this OS, they work flawless so far.

This OS runs A LOT smoother than Lion did for me & this is the 1st time I did an install that wasn't a clean install.

I'm running a Mid 2010 15" 2.4 Core i5 Macbook Pro with 8GB Ram & a 1TB HD
