Looks Like Rockstar Is Rereleasing GTA San Andreas

While most point to GTA Vice City as being their favourite, there’s no denying the love GTA San Andreas gets among the fanbase. Well, it looks like you’ll be able to buy it all over again.

GTA San Andreas is turning 10 this weekend and to celebrate Rockstar has removed the digital version of the PS2, Xbox and PC game from the PlayStation Store, Xbox Marketplace and Steam. Instead it looks like we’ll be getting an all new version, even coming alongside some Achievements.

XboxAchievements.org has the list of Achievements unearthed, suggesting that this will be an enhanced version of the game – though this doesn’t give us a sign of whether or not the resolution will be improved to match modern TVs. It was previously possible to buy GTA San Andreas digitally, but this was an older version of the game and therefore limited to older resolutions.

Presumably Rockstar will be gearing up to announce it shortly, but if these Achievements are being added in we can only assume they will be adding improved screen resolution – though the PC version was capable of 16:9 anyway. Hopefully PlayStation owners will be able to get Trophies for it, too.

Who knows, maybe it’ll even come to PS4 and Xbox One?

i bought it on psn ps3 last year or the year before that, if it comes out on ps4 i would buy it , call me a gta fanboy

Evidence has appeared that points to a Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas anniversary rerelease.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is remembered as the best-selling PlayStation 2 game of all time. Many fans still cite it as the best game in the series, and it remains notorious for the ‘Hot Coffee’ mod controversy.

First off, an achievements list recently appeared for the game for Xbox 360, something which the game did not have in its original release.

The other thing that fans observed is that the game has been pulled in several platforms. It is no longer listed in Xbox 360’s Xbox Live Marketplace, under the Xbox Classics section. It is gone from European PSN, at least for the PlayStation 2 version. Finally, it is nowhere to be found on Steam.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was originally released on October 26, 2014. In four days’ time, the game will be celebrating its ten year anniversary.

Having the game delisted in all these platforms when the anniversary is coming up implies that Rockstar is planning a grand rerelease of the game. They may have been discreetly working on a remaster of sorts, perhaps to upgrade it from 6th generation to 7th generation consoles.

I wasted countless, mind numbing hours startin' gang wars, gettin' turf & thuggin' in da name of Grove St.

that's what pissed me off about san andreas enough to stop playing it...I stayed up one nite late as shit securing turf...winning that shit then defending that shit...@ times losing it then fighting back to get it...after I did all of that they scrapped my hard work bcuz that's simply how the story progressed...so me doing that shit was pointless...I pretty much got sick of gta story mode after that...completely skipped 4...played a little bit of gta 5 story before I got bored w/ jumping thru all the hoops...gta 5 online is a beast tho...been playing that shit for over a year now...and it doesn't even seem like it...I still put in mad hours on the weekends fucking shit up

I just started playing this "GTA SAN ANDREAS" again last week after I got my PS2 and games back from The Sister and her boyfriend. I bought the setup (console and 10 games) for $30 from a co-worker a few years back. And they held on to it when I was in transit due to work.

BTW...

Any of you know the best place to get (old) PS2 games?
I want to add some single-player Horror/Adventure stuff for my PS2.
I'm just a casual gamer (mostly PC).
And I truly don't see myself advancing to a PS4, X-Box, etc.
