Just wanted to know whether this is worth the price. If not, what would be a good alternative?

Any help is appreciated.

Very nice setup. I would up the wattage on that psu.

same thing i was thinking. and since you are getting a MB that supports 6.0 gb, why not get a hd to match. also, is this something you are building or is it a barebone kit?

I would look into a hd 6870... you can always get another one later cuz they scale real good in crossfire.

AMD PHENOM II X2 555 (3.20GHz/6MB CACHE/AM3) - BLACK EDITION

^^^^ for this as a new build i would say no, its a dual core in the days of 8 core setups its like stepping backwards

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103727

this much better and it seems pricey for an AMD build but your in the UK and that may account for the cost.

Memory - 1st Hard Disk
500GB SERIAL ATA 3-Gb/s HARD DRIVE WITH 8MB CACHE (7,200rpm)

ON price point alone 1TB HD better deal

1st DVD/BLU-RAY Drive
24x DUAL LAYER DVD WRITER ±R/±RW/RAM

this is costing you more than its worth unless your planning to burn blu-ray for friends or making money from it, media players far more cost effective and allow for way more movies with out storage space need for them in home.

I've been quoted that by a company that builds them. I wanted this pc especially for multi media (Photoshop Lightroom) in mind.

Thanks for all your comments. Appreciated.

honestly for photoshop alone i would get a better processor

1. I would scrap the idea of buying the PC from the company with any Ram. There charging you labor and markup on Samsung Memory.
I would get something like these instead, this is what I use. I run with 12GB myself:

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231277
I would atleast get 6GB if not 8GB for what your planning to use it for. Plus you can run a 64 Bit Operating system with no issues. Again it's easy as hell to install memory so just do it yourself and save money!

2. I'm an intel supporter so I would get a i7 920 @2.7ghz. The pricing has come down on these and there great not to mention easily over clock-able. I'm at 4.10Ghz with air cooled only case. :)

Processor Cooling
Along with the intel processor ask the company if they have any upgraded heatsinks for the processor. Something like this:

ZALMAN CNPS9900ALED 120mm 2 Ball Low-noise Blue LED CPU Cooler
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118046

I've used these on many occasions for customers and they keep things cool. :)

3. Definitely upgrade the power source now, like others have stated.

Just some food for thought... ;)

By the way, can you give a link to the store? I'm sure myself and others could come up with other configurations that would compare in price.

you may need more ram too, then.

I don't mine either Intel or AMD. If any of you guys could come up with different specifications, its very much appreciated.

You can get a better processor than the X2. Try an X4 instead for a little more umph and then overclock that fucker!

I know nothing about building computers so forgive me for this question if it's a silly one. Can I change the processor in my computer as an up grade? I don't want to buy a new machine but I have been doing more video projects lately and sometimes my machine lags.

I just built a new system
get the x4 BE
and up the psu to at least 800
and get an over clocked 460 instead of the 465 and make sure its the 1gb card
if you are going to over clock the cpu invest in an after market cooler I am running my phenom II x4 965 BE at 4017 ghz with a corsair h70
if you can get an ssd drive for you main drive and a 1tb for storage I will post my specs in a few I spent about 900 building my system

case: COOLER MASTER HAF 932

psu: COOLMAX RM-750B 750w (could have got a better one but it was a good deal)

MB : GIGABYTE GA-890GPA-UD3H

memory: CORSAIR CMX4GX3M2A1600C9 XMS3 4GB kit (2GB x 2) dual channel 240-pin pc3-12800 DDR3 1600mhz 9-9-9-24 DIMM desktop memory module

hard drive: OCZ OCZSSD2-2VTXE60G Vertex 2 Extended 60GB 2.5IN SATA2 Solid State Disk

cpu : AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz

cooling: CORSAIR Hydro H70 CWCH70 120mm High Performance CPU Cooler

video card: Palit NE5X460HF1102 GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) Sonic Platinum Overclocking Edition 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16

storage WD elements usb 2tb external HD

all ready had : Pioneer Black 22X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 12X DVD+R DL
LG W2252TQ 22-Inch Widescreen LCD Monitor
wd my book 1tb external HD

I built this system for about 900 but i got some good prices on a few things I bought most of the components at mwave.com newegg and fry's I got the case from a friend for 40$ with a few scratches on it got some paint at a hobby store and touched it up :D

yes you need to know socket type in your pc to upgrade, ie: I3 1366 to an I5 1366 or AMD 2gb XII am2 to an AMD 3gb XII am2

I would say up to £1000
consider this a starting point or even a complete build
