Leslie Jones Wants To Be Deadpool’s ‘Loud’ Sidekick in Sequel

“Ghostbusters” star Leslie Jones is doubling down. During an interview on “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” she spoke with host Seth Meyers about her recent entreaty to Ryan Reynolds, where she told him she wants a role in “Deadpool 2.” That is to say, she wants to play Wade Wilson’s ‘loud,’ superpowered sidekick.

“I would love to be the sidekick, just feeding him back the lines,” she shared. “It would just be so fun.”

Asked if she would want to have any superpowers, she added, “I just want to be loud! I mean, just, ‘WHAAAAT!’ and everybody’s clothes just come off of them!”

Jones’ desire to play a loud-mouthed mutant isn’t out of bounds for Fox’s “X-Men” universe. After all, “X-Men: First Class” starred Sean Cassidy, aka Banshee, who had the ability to amplify his sound waves and use it as a sonic scream.

Additionally, she complimented “Deadpool” star Ryan Reynolds and his wife Blake Lively. “Ryan Reynolds has got to be one of the finest pieces of specimen,” she said, before joking that he and Lively must compare their hotness every morning.

Of course, this isn’t the first time Jones has expressed her desire to become part of “Deadpool’s” world. In December, she Tweeted at Reynolds — the Merc with a Mouth himself — to let him know she’s ready and willing to play a role in the upcoming sequel. “I want to be in deadpool. I could be smart mouth side kick. And my power would be loudness!!” she said at the time.

To Jones’ credit, she probably would be right at home next to the aggressively boisterous Merc with a Mouth. And if she can fend off an army of Internet trolls, then whatever Wade Wilson might say to her should be a piece of cake.

Jones is perhaps best known for her tenure on “Saturday Night Live,” where she’s been a cast member since 2014. She also starred as Patty Tolan in this past summer’s “Ghostbusters” reboot. Her past credits include “Trainwreck,” “The League,” “The Blacklist” and more.

Despite the departure in October of director Tim Miller over “creative differences,” the “Deadpool” sequel is targeting a Jan. 2, 2018, release, with “John Wick’s” David Leitch behind the camera. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (“Zombieland”), who wrote the first film, will return for the sequel.

i hate that word became soooooo popular...takes the sting out of it...now all somebody gotta do is disagree with your stance and they're either hatin' or coonin'....

please, help me understand. am i missing something?

You should do some research on the loud black woman archetype. It's a stereotypical role used to make us look childlike, unrefined and lacking of self control.
It effects everything from job interviews to interaction with police .

but fuck all that lol, she's begging to play this role so she can come up. That's the definition of selling out imo.

So if a white person gets a major Hollywood role as a loud sidekick it's ok...

But if a black person does the same thing, it's not ok?

It's a false comparison.

There is no history of whites being reduced to stereotypes on film in order to dehumanize them.

You should research a birth of a nation (1915) to see how media stereotypes are used against black people.

I overstand whites using entertainment to practice racism against non-white people.

Whether she gets the role or not, it will have no effect on the system of racism/white supremacy.

It's not that she wants to be in the movie,

It's the type of role that she wants to play.

Why cant she just ask to play a regular character? Why ask to play a loud stereotype ?

Maybe you have never seen her in a interview but that's how she actually is, so do you want her to not be herself to impress stuck black people who want to call her coon?

thank you. these responses made a lot of sense.

my only thing is, considering the movie and the lead character, deadpool (aka the merc with a mouth) it seems as if the type of character she's requesting to play would fit in with the overall theme of the movie. i mean all the dude does is talk shit while killing people and causing general mayhem. having someone there who's just as much a shit talker going line for line with him could definitely make for a few funny scenes.

now, would she be willing to do it at the expense of falling into the stereotypical "loud mouth sassy black woman" category. she's campaigning for it so she's obviously cool with it and, in all honesty, she seems a perfect fit for casting.

it would be totally wrong for Deadpool - there is no loud side kick, just subdued to normal or of varying seriousness -competent straight men that contrast off of Deadpool's insanity (Cable to Domino to the entire X family)- some being more ruthless more moral more angry etc but none ever louder or funnier - even with Spidey as the straight man Spidey is wry and sane...

As a geek - Fuck Leslie Jones for campaigning for a role on a property she did no research on...
and fuck her for thinking to insert a herself as stereotype for a supporting lead role - if anything she can play a stereotype in a 10 second cameo

Enough of her already. She wants her cake and to swallow it too. Fucking comedian getting roasted off twitter and now wants more roles -- and stereotypical ones at that. FOH.

And yeah, after those photos got leaked, I said I'm fucking :hmm:
