Is this going to result in further calls for drug tests from Robert Gibbs? I think it’s safe to say when one speaks of the “professional left” Paul Krugman and Tom Friedman are at the top of many people’s list. And if this morning’s This Week panel was anything to go by they are very, very angry.

As angry and prolific and hyperbolic as the Tea Party has been this past year, and as much as the White House has been running scared from Glenn Beck in recent months, I’m not sure there’s anything scarier than an hardcore Liberal turned angry. First up, Paul Krugman, who has been critical of President Obama before but perhaps not in such stark terms: This morning he accused Obama of having no vision.

But what is true on all of this is that Obama has had no vision. He has not articulated a philosophy. What is Obama’s philosophy of government? He wobbles between sounding kind of like a liberal. Then he says, well, the conservatives have some points, too. He concedes the message.

There’s never been anything like what Reagan did, which was to say, “We’ve been on the wrong track. We’re going to follow a very different track. That’s going to change things. You need to, you know, support us in this.”

Shortly thereafter Tom Friedman jumped on board declaring that Obama had “over-read his mandate”

Look, I’m for more health care. I’m glad we’ve extended it to more Americans. But the fact is, there is a real, I think, argument for the case that Obama completely over-read his mandate when he came in.

He was elected to get rid of one man’s job, George Bush, and get the rest of us jobs. I think that was the poor thing. And by starting with health care and not making his first year the year of innovation, expanding economy and expanding jobs, you know, I think, looking back, that was a political mistake.

And then stated that the Obama administration communicates worse than any administration Friedman has ever seen since he came to Washington.

I think it is fair. You know, one of the criticisms certainly I’ve had — and many others have had — this is not, I think, original — there’s been no narrative to this administration. To me, I think Barack Obama was elected for one thing, which I’m not sure he ever fully understood, to do nation-building at home, to do nation-building in America…There’s never been a unifying message. I’ve worked here since 1989. I personally — just as a reporter, a columnist in Washington — have never seen a worse communicating administration, just at the basic, technical level of, “Hey, we’ve got a good plan. You know, maybe someone out there would be interested in writing about it,” not since I’ve been to Washington.

Unlike much of the hollering on the right these past few months, this is not the sort of criticism that the Obama administration can easily brush away with accusations of election rhetoric. Whether or not he takes it seriously remains to be seen. But it is rather mind-boggling to hear two stalwarts of the left (per some commenters, agreed Friedman less so than Krugman, but still striking to hear him criticize Obama in such stark terms) accuse a president who swept into office on a wave of national euphoria of being both a bad communicator and someone who lacks vision. Apparently we were not the ones we’ve been waiting for?

He "over-read" his mandate.

I like that one.

The criticism on their communication is one I've been saying for months. Health care is related to jobs because it allows our companies to compete with international companies that have socialized medicine. That message never got out in any big way. Just mentioned as an aside. Hell, every time one of the provisions goes into effect, Gibbs should be mentioning it and it should be trumpeted by the Administration but it isn't.

Healthcare will create a lot of jobs over the next decade especially nurses and home health but the overall job market will suffer because there will be almost no manufacturing jobs. That means a shrinking middle class and thats why those guys are scared. Obama hasn't assured the elites that they will be safe if there's a uprising. Reagan, The Rep Revolution in the 90's and the Bush's were all about transfering wealth with little or no risk for the rich, Obama hasn't done that or created jobs for the working class so everyone is on his ass.

Agreed.

The OBAMA administration gambled and lost.

Over a year ago, they never thought that the unemployment rate would be at 9.6% right now.

Hence, they used all their political capital to get healthcare deform passed.

They should have focused on JOBS, JOBS, JOBS. used the unspent stimulus money to infuse small businessess, in the way of tax incentives for hiring new employees. And mass immediate hiring of unskilled workers as follows. One set of jobs to DIG HOLES, another set of jobs to FILL THE HOLES UP.

Also, need to help out the housing market... by HELPING the indvidual homeowner WRITE DOWN THEIR LOSSES... not just the banks. My ideas include:
Allow homewoners in distressed areas to REFINANCE their mortgages into low interst fix rate lowns... with principal reduction. The penalty for the
  • homeowner would be penalized as such:
  • The person could no longer receive the homewoner deduction on their taxes.
  • Their property taxes would still remain at the same level of the ORIGINAL MORTGAGE.
  • A % of the reduction must be claimed as income on taxes for 5 years. Meaning that if your Mortgage principal got reduced from $200K down to $150K then the difference $50K say 10% or $5K must be claimed as income on your taxes for the next 5 years

    Just some of my ideas.
.

Paul Krugman? :smh:

That Keynesian never had any credibility to begin with

That Nobel prize gives him way more credibility than any of your fringe right wing, talking gold up, corporatist, so called pseudo economists!

Thomas Sowell:lol:

Was Krugman justified in his rant?

I'm confused. You are obviously looking toward Krugman's comments to try and discredit President Obama, yet in the same post you claim Krugman has no credibility. Do you actually know where you stand on the the issue(s)?

Or are you like gunner, a hired republican hit man?

this aint about ME, Krugman just publicly dissed our President, said "he had no vision".

Do you agree with Krugman's rant?

A hired republican hitman. Dude who hired you? Typical liberal answer when challenged. Right now the party you champion is worthless. The minute Obama received the Nobel prize it became hot garbage. A prize for the biggest empty suit would suffice. The office is above his pay grade.

Krugman has made criticisms about President Obama virtually from the beginning of his presidency and I have posted many of them. You said he had no credibility in the past. Why does Krugman all of a sudden become credibly with you?

Krugman has praised the President for passing health care, all be it not as extensively as he has wanted. Krugman has also championed the administrations policies of lessening our dependence on fossil fuels, again not as progressive has he would of liked.

Do you want me to disavow President Obama for not being liberal enough or do you want me to discredit him because of your political bias?

When you defend billionaires, calming that they are acting in their own interests, when I know you are probably on some government dole, Either the US, Canada or Great Britain and regularly post on this board for nearly a year with out paying a membership, you are definitely getting paid to spew some right wing shit.

I am a paid member of BGOL and have been posting on all boards of this site for years.

Again, simple question. Are you getting paid to post here?

Liberal like you come a dime a dozen. The minute you're backed into a corner you either start waffeling, use the race card or claim someone is being paid.

Let me set up this video for you. This conservative sister crosses paths with a Sharpton supporter. Watch closely the minute this kool aid drinker is faced with having to defend her thoughts she injects race and walks away. Perfect example of how one must treat a liberal.

When treated this way, all of a sudden they don't like the delivery of the message. I'm a paid member as well that doesn't mean shit. You act as if because you have posted for years you are all of a sudden beyond being challenged on your hate corporate America bullshit. Who in the hell financed your house, car? Someone had to generate wealth to take a chance on your promise to repay.

I suggest you read upon the old Southern Strategy. Dick Morris once worked for the Clinton's. He guided Bill to the White House and he's well respected in the political arena.:roflmao: I can't stand the Clinton's but stupid they are not.
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2008/01/how_clinton_will_win_the_nomin.html

Also google the old southern strategy. You will be amazed how whites use our vote. Simply because we block vote. 80%-90% for the democrats each election. 1 + 1 = 2, the data never lies. Geat win for Obama but if this political strategy comes into play, Clinton will win the nomination. Red state voters hate the Clinton's. Having said that THERE WILL BE ANOTHER REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT. :lol:We only make up 12- 13% of the population. Say what you will but remember true and accurate numbers never lie

How credible are YOU!

Sherry Rowlands, the suddenly famous Virginia call girl, is taking all the credit for the downfall of presidential adviser Dick Morris. She says the Republicans had nothing to do with it.

"The only person in the world I knew politically was Dick Morris," she told the syndicated tabloid show "Hard Copy" in her first television interview. "Who do you call? I mean . . . you don't go in the phone book and look up Bob Dole." The two-part "Hard Copy" interview is scheduled to air on Baltimore's Channel 2 tonight and tomorrow night at 12:05 a.m. .

As for Morris's downfall, Rowlands said: "Someone as intelligent as he is should have kept his lip buttoned when he unzipped his pants. I mean, how can you maneuver worlds, and he can't even control what he's doing in his own room with a paid lady?"

Morris's resignation was announced hours before President Clinton delivered his acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention last Thursday night. His departure came after the Star, a supermarket tabloid, published allegations by the $200-an-hour prostitute that she had a long-running relationship with Morris. The Star, which says it paid Rowlands less than $50,000 for the story, made her available to "Hard Copy." A spokesman for the program, which often pays for interviews, declined to say whether Rowlands was paid.

In an interview with Time magazine published yesterday, Morris again declined to address the allegations, "even if this episode destroys me." He said he would not be advising Clinton informally: "I've sent myself out of the game. I'm not going to run the campaign from the locker room."

His wife, attorney Eileen McGann, posed with her husband for a Time photographer. She told Time she was "very upset" about the Star report but that "I thought it would be destructive to ask about the details and try to find out what was true. I'm an adult. I accepted Dick's apology."

Time's piece was its second straight cover story on Morris, the first person to be accorded such prominence since O.J. Simpson. Newsweek also gave cover billing to Morris's downfall.

In the "Hard Copy" interview, taped last weekend with co-anchor Barry Nolan, Rowlands said she went public because "it has to be told, whether I'm a call girl who'll blabber or whatever they want to call it, fine. But wake up, America. I mean, if he told me, who else did he tell?"

Asked about Morris's wife, Rowlands said: "I'm sure this is hurting her, and was not meant to hurt her. He's the one who hurt her, not me. . . . He loves his wife -- that's why he would pay me . . . to come see him. That makes him feel he is not cheating on his wife. This is business as long as he's paying for it."

She quoted Morris as saying: "My wife probably has an idea that I fool around, but she really doesn't have solid evidence. . . . She does tell me if I need to do that, please be discreet."

Rowlands quoted the political consultant as saying of his influence over the president: "They all know who holds the leash . . . that's around Clinton's neck."

Rowlands also recounted an episode in which she said Morris let her listen in on a phone conversation with the president:

"Hillary answered the phone and she said the president was exercising at the moment and she would get him . . . and when [Clinton] came back he sounds really mad . . . and he said, 'Look, Dick, I would prefer you not use this phone anymore. You can understand Hillary is upset, my wife is not well, you know with all this Whitewater trial and everything, she is not well. You know the regular lines, do not call the private residence anymore.' And he was embarrassed and he said, 'I'm sorry, sir' and hung up."

Who gives a crap about Mr. Freak Nasty? Go play pitch and catch with your dad. Evade evade, evade. Your would make a fine liberal politician. Stick to the race posts, anytime you're forced outside of that box your rebuttals become abject nonsense.
