WBA junior welterweight champ Amir Khan (25-1, 17 KOs) and IBF champ, Zab Judah (41-6, 28 KOs) have agreed to terms and will meet in an HBO feature, July 23 in Las Vegas, likely at the Mandalay Bay.

After WBC/WBO champ Timothy Bradley refused to come to terms with the UK champ for a summer unification bout, Khan’s promotional team, Golden Boy, went looking for a suitable replacement and entertained several possible foes for the high-profile bout.

Judah, the former welterweight and three-time junior welterweight champ, wasn’t hard to find, as he immediately put his name on the list of willing replacements.

After brief negotiations and a compromise on venue and money split (55-45 in favor of Khan), both fighters are now verbally on board for the bout, which will have major implications in the smoking-hot 140-pound weight class.

In Khan’s last contest, he bested Ireland’s Paul McCloskey in a lackluster six-round technical decision. Prior to that, the former Olympic silver medalist scored back-to-back impressive wins over Marcos Maidana (UD 12) and Paulie Malignaggi (TKO 11).

Judah is coming off an impressive TKO 7 win in March over Kaizer Mabuza for the vacant IBF title.

Just signed on the undercard is another interesting junior welterweight clash as Lamont Peterson (28-1-1, 14 KOs) meets Victor Manuel Cayo (26-1, 18 KOs) in an IBF 140-pound title eliminator.

Shaping up to be a decent card. I think Khan will get him but Judah should make it far more entertaining than McCloskey, at least for 5 rounds.

Possibly. Though Khan had a bit of a problem with a defender like McCloskey who can't punch. To be honest Khan looked kind of amateurish in that fight. If Pernell can help Zab truly keep it together for more than 8 or 9 rounds, Khan could be in some trouble. Judah's been in with everybody, he's still fast and can still punch and if he's as defensive minded as he was against Mabuza, he might make Khan look bad. My money is still on Khan though.

I missed that, Pernell who? Sweet Pea is working with Zab? Damn, I'm out of touch.

With that, I give him another couple solid rounds.

I was a huge Judah fan...but he's finished...hell been finished for yrs now....Khan will win this by decision....

...what happen to Bradley?

Wanted too much money, even though that dude couldn't sell out his own living room.:smh:

Khan should win, but I will not underestimate Judah's speed and power causing an early but serious problem for Khan's glass chin.

I would not be shocked if we see another 1st round upset if Zab has really been getting his house in order.

I actually think headbutting Bradley could/would beat Khan....maybe I'm hating on Khan but I never like dude....

he's a good boxer only when his opponents don't push the fight....

the both have suspect chins. I would be shocked if Zab does anything other than get knocked out.

Judahs bACK IN THE MIX @ 140 say what you want.

He shoulda stayed at 140

He is getting an opportunity. But he is not back in the mix. He is there really to put a name on Amir's records. He is no different than what we saw with Shane and Manny. And be honest. Do you expect Zab to do what he could do when he was younger. And that is beat a favorite against him?

Man what a joke, judah had been getting his ass kick by everyone, i quess that the manny mosley fiasco wasn't enough :eek::eek:

...what happen to Bradley?

"Cranium" was dumb enough to price himself out of a damn fight...sucka must've thought that he was a draw to boxing fans...bullshit we saw how many seats were empty in Detroit :smh:

That punk can just sit back and fight Maidana cause the sucker ain't in it for the belts...If he had an ounce of a brain inside his forehead, then we could have an undisputed champion by November...but I doubt it.

I'm rooting for Judah in this one...if Sweet Pea has the time to polish Zab on his ring generalship, then Amir is in for a long night. Plus Zab has more power than Khan so if either is going to go down via chin-check, most likely it will be Khan

Yeah we all know Bradley can't draw, but everyone prices themselves out according to Khan so I don't know... I'm starting to see this shit to really be about Khan now.

Zab is his own worst enemy...his biggest problems the last few yrs has been his discipline and mental weakness...I doubt anyone can fix that now....

This would be twice for him (Juan Manuel Marquez). He's on my radar for bullshit.

It IS about him. Dude has a huge guaranteed contract with HBO and HBO ain't trying to put crazy dough for a fight that's not even PPV status. And no fighter who isn't desperate for a big fight is gonna give Amir who isn't truly a proven seller a huge chunk of the money. He DID run away from Marquez in my opinion though since Marquez is a proven selling fighter. Freddie prolly told him he ain't ready for Juan anyway. Still though Bradley is seriously overestimating his own value...

from ESPN

Kathy Duva of Main Events, Judah's promoter, made a deal with Golden Boy's Richard Schaefer, Khan's promoter, on Tuesday morning, a little over a week after titleholder Timothy Bradley turned his back on a career-high payday of at least $1.4 million to face Khan.

The fight with Bradley was the one Khan really wanted, and the fight HBO was hoping for. But when Bradley stunningly rejected a 50-50 deal -- including half of the money generated from the television rights in Khan's native England -- attention turned elsewhere.

I agree fully that Bradley lost his mind and blew this one. Who else are they going to pay him a million dollars+ to fight? There are some good fights to be made at jr welter but not many million dollar fights.
Still, Khan and Freddie shouldn't make this his go-to excuse whenever a fight falls through. After too many times, even if it's 100% true, it will ring hollow in people's ears.

I spoke too soon about Bradley....:smh:

Been talking to a few people and the rumor is that Bradley is waiting for his contract with Gary Shaw to expire at the end of this month - word is Shaw takes 20% of his purse if Bradley accepts an offer to fight a boxer signed to another promoter. Maybe someone from Golden Boy advised him on the low to wait it out or offered him some under the table step aside money.:dunno:
