Joe Arpaio, the former Arizona sheriff notorious for his draconian views on immigration, is running for the Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) later this year.

“I have a lot to offer. I’m a big supporter of President Trump,” Arpaio, 85, told the Washington Examiner in an interview published Tuesday. “I’m going to have to work hard; you don’t take anything for granted. But I would not being doing this if I thought that I could not win. I’m not here to get my name in the paper, I get that everyday, anyway.”

EXCELLENT news for the Democrats. Joe Arpaio makes Roy Moore look like a Progressive. The likely opposition candidate Kyrsten Sinema is an exceptionally qualified Blue Dog Democrat who cannot easily be tied to the liberals. She voted against Pelosi for Speaker twice, and has consistently been rated the most bipartisan Democrat in Congress.
