Jessica Leonard was an innocent girl, who weighed a perfectly normal 7 1/2 pounds at birth. But she had a disease which gave her the urge to eat all the time. If her mother refused, she would throw a tantrum, which is typical of any 5 year old child. Her mother complied, but she got so used to this behavior she didn't realize that she was putting her daughters life in danger.
At age 8, she wei More..ghed nearly 450 pounds and was not able to walk well at all. She rolled around the house and used a wheelchair elsewhere. She had trouble breathing, and was eventually taken to the hospital because of this. CPS stepped in, and took her away, placing her on very strict diet. She has lost 320 pounds and went to public school for the very first time after this. She lost all her weight naturally.
Whose fault was it? Mostly, the mother's. She fed her want she wanted all the time, not just occasionally. Also, the disease only caused her extreme hunger, the tantrums were natural. To this day Jessica still struggles to fight her urge to eat, but can finally enjoy a normal life. God bless this child and her mother.
