Jason Kidd Gives His Gold Medal To The Wynns
82533679.jpg

Most people, when they get an Olympic gold medal hang onto it for dear life. Jason Kidd, who played on the Olympic basketball team however is giving his away. And to whom? No other than Elaine Wynn, wife of casino mogul Steve Wynn. It turns out that Kidd met Mrs. Wynn last year while he and the rest of the U.S. team were staying at the Wynn while training in Las Vegas. They got to talking over a banquet and Kidd promised that if the team won the gold he would give her his medal. No, he's not in debt to the house, Kidd says it's just a thank you because "the way they treated us at the Wynn, it was the least I could do." I'm hoping the Wynns display the medal at one of their hotels.

ummmmmm, I've had some good customer service at hotels and restaurants, but NOT THAT GOOD! Oh well...

The actual medal is just metal and cloth. The accomplishment still belongs to J Kidd. She is probably going to display it in the hotel which will serve as an attraction for a man who could be beginning to transitio himself out of basketball. He can always have a replica made if he wants. No big deal to me.

This was a person that meant that much to him????...I don't understand.

WTF,did she send up an extra Hershey's kiss???

I don't think he really wanted it anyway. He was only playing the first 5 minutes of each half And usually when the US wouldn't be winning by much until they took him (and Kobe) out the game

Not withstanding that, Jason Kidd is weird and not the brightest bulb without a pill in his hands

have a point there, but isn't it to hotel's job to treat them really well (by them i mean professional athletes)

It just seemed random for him to give his medal to her of all people. I mean, why even make that promise when she had NOTHING to do with your success. Coulda gave it to his water-head kid when he gets older...

oh well, a fool and his money/gold medal...

cosign
plus relationships with moguls > little gold trinket
he will always be an olympic gold medal champion from the 2008 games

If it was his only medal maybe i could see an issue but he still has another one.
if i was him and i was lucky enough to win 2 i wouldn't give it away...if i was phelps and i won 12 (+/- 1 or 2) i wouldn't give it away

ok maybe one to my mother but thats a big accomplishment that i would want to hold on to

Difference is Phelps like most of the other athletes grew up wanting to win an Olympic medal. That is the pinnacle of their sport. For Kidd its an NBA championship ring. If he gave one of those away it would be comparable to Phelps giving away a gold medal.

Giving his medal to the wynn's is a smart move, "fuck that medal" basically...we all look up to that shit that nigga aint trippin he got a few, accomplishment remains his...giving it to the wynns is just like people donating their memorabelia to hall of fames...

and not to mention he'll probably have extremeeeeeeeeeeee plug from the wynn family for the rest of his life...

its nothing, its still his medal...he just won't keep it at his house...

To be real...professional atheletes have all type of medals, trophy's and everything...in their house? how often are they even at home to see them? So no matter where it is...its still his...

Now he's got super duper vegas plug from a hotel mogul..

atleast he didn't give it to paris hilton..

None of us really know what type of relationship he has with that chick so who knows whats really going on behind the scenes or why he REALLY did it...but obviously its nothing to him.

I believe i heard in an interview w/ Coach K where he said that players (like Kobe) find this of higher value compared to winning a ring. I don't know how much more time Kidd has to get that ring

I thought he would of gave it to Mark Cuban since that's the closest he is going to get to winning anything.

This is the kind of shit you do for rich or prominent people. When they display it, it puts you in a different status and you and your kids are forever remembered by them and their kids as the medal is talked about when they show it off to their friends and family or anyone they are bragging to or who ask about it.

Stuff like this gets him access to little things that may be a big deal to other people. Things like being able to stay at one of their vacation homes if he happens to be or is planning to be in that neighborhood. Call in a favor when it's needed.

Most regular folks don't do stuff like this, but this is the kind of stuff that rich or prominent folks do all the time. It pays huge dividends, sometimes for generations.

Free rooms for life, hell they will name a suite after him and mofo's will pay $10,000 a night to stay there.
