James Brown - Get On Up Movie

Is anyone going to see it :dunno:

It's getting good reviews

Seems a lot better and more interesting than Disney's 42

I know it's not a black movie, but it's about one of the greatest black entertainers and has a mostly black cast

I feel good

His voice is a terrible rendition, and as always they make shit a comedy all the damn time and about white people.

Haven't seen 42, and I won't see this shit either.

Why watch a BS biopic from the director of The Help :hmm: when you can watch the American Masters PBS documentary on James Brown? Fuck that movie.

If ya'll can shell out $200 for jordans, ya'll can support Chadwick Boseman for $10. Its rare to be able to support an up and coming actor. Fuck the cacs ya'll referring to.

Im struggling with the amount of whites in executive and controlling roles but I do want to support it. I saw Mick Jagger, Dan Akroyd, and the director but haven't seen any of James' peers or black faces behind the cameras on this project.

I thought he did a decent job with the voice from the clips I saw.

Does it cover from childhood to death?

link?

Niggas are free ta' do what they wish w/da money they earned. If folks go see it, they do, if they don't, they don't. Yeen got no control over that.

I'm going to see it and I really don't give a fuck how anybody else here feels about that.

So don't so see it, like somebody gives a shit...

Like I stated in another thread, GO see the movie! Its good as hell. Stop letting white directors or fairly unknown actors disparage you from seeing a fucking movie! I mean its a damn movie.

man im serious...

There are certain scenes they fucked up on purpose just to save white folks feelings and take his nuts away at the same time

Besides that fuck James brown right !!! After all he sang at Nixon inauguration..

board has a bunch of make believe revolutionaries.

I love James Brown but I have issue with CACs telling our stories. When Spike Lee makes the Anne Frank story maybe I can relax. From the people who brought you "The Help"

When BGOL drops the screener I'll watch it....

maybe its fucked up that cacs are the ones that thought his story was worth telling and on the big screen and not a lifetime movie.

Wasn't impressed by the trailor and like bruh above me said, I'm tired of white people telling our story that shit is mad played out.

I went to see it this afternoon....

You can knock the strip, the producers or the director,but....

The acting, choreography and music was great...which was why I went to see it.

Having grown up on James Brown,if Boseman had done a bad impression of him it would have been comical.

But Boseman, guess he straight up morph into a character.

You should read why Jagger got involved. We can be mad at whites for stepping in, but when rich blacks won't, why don't we blame them?
