Detroit — A 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray was found on cinderblocks earlier this week after having its wheels stolen in Detroit, officials say.

The not-yet-released Stingray that's capable of hitting 194 mph was found nearby the GM headquarters in downtown Detroit.

A Chevy spokesman said it was an engineering test vehicle and the company has filed a police report. Detroit police confirmed the incident but did not have further details.

The car hasn't even hit production. It's expected to begin in February at the General Motors Bowling Green Assembly Plant in Kentucky.

The mid-engine, 1LT will start at $59,995, the 2LT trim package will start at $67,295 and the top-level 3LT trim package on the 2020 Corvette Stingray will start at $71,945, according to Chevy.

The car won the 2020 MotorTrend Car of the Year award in November, earning a top spot for the third time in Corvette’s history, previously awarded in 1984 and 1998

Inside job or publicity stunt? Those joints are GPS tracked 24/7.
I don't think they had any trouble finding it. :dunno: On Star was probably even listening in to see if they heard anybody in the car. :giggle:

That shit is commonplace in El Paso. Your shit better not break down in certain spots and need a tow...especially on the East Loop stretch. Your shit will be stripped down to the frame if they have time enough.:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

Someone parked and left it in that spot without activating the alarm or got so far away they couldn't hear it go off. :dunno:

How?
I realize if somebody wants your shit bad enough...
but the wheel locks only slow 'em down?
With a baby sledge hammer, about 3lbs and a socket that has room to fit over the wheel lock...I used to work part time at an auto body repair shop.... they're usually not on super tight... bang the socket over and onto the wheel lock... it can usally be done in a few tries

.

The worse part is, now all the hommies in that hood gotta pay more for they car insurance. You think Geico, or Progressive had something to do with it?

GOT-DAMN!

-talk about rollin' with a false sense of security!

Most vette's come with pilot sport tires while the z06 and zr1 come with pilot super sports, those tires can run you 400-700 rims are lightweight

Youre right... I honestly didnt even think about the tires. Most stock wheels are heavy, even the wheels on my Type-R are damn near 30 lbs, but the tires are 300 a piece.

Man, them joints everywhere around here. I see them everyday day. Testing is done production starts next month. Everybody at GM is driving them before they crush them. The new Vette has all season tires and can be driven in the winter.

People already got caught trying to sell the rims on Facebook.

They did the shit to me in NYC few yrs ago, jacked all 4 wheel in broad daylight in heavy traffic congested shopping mall parking lot.
MY ride was on

Those are some small ass rotors for a sports car.
Makes the nice calipers seem like such a waste.
GM could’ve just threw some damn entry level Chevy Cruz calipers on those baby ass rotors.

Those are four piston disc rotors which have plenty of bite for that ride. Those same sizes were on the c7 and 6th gen camaros except for the Z06, ZR1, ZL1 and 1LE which all have 6 piston brembos. The bigger is on the rear now with double calipers due to the engine set up. The smaller disc on the front looks weird due to them being in the rear in previous gens.
