While Issue # 1 of to pay or not to pay is being debated, lets consider
Issue # 2: Will the quality of BGOL Board still remain the same after BGOL goes private?
I'm new here and don't post often but the main reason I check this board is not because of movies/music/politics but because of the humor created in response to the posts on movies/music/politics.
Is it fair to say that most BGOL members frequent here for the debate and clowning between BGOL members in reaction to the movies/music/politics that get posted.
Thread Example # 1: "Iron Mic: Eli Porter v. Envy" youtube video
This is just a funny youtube video that you would watch but consider how 1 video spawns 90 plus comments - we all know its really messed up some how its funny (repents again).
Thread Example # 2: Banned Bet Boondocks Episode
Ok, so the boondocks episode would have been difficult to find but consider this, it was posted by Primofan who posts on other boards at well - if BGOL goes private, would someone who comes in to drop videos want to pay to drop videos on a board? I hope we don't lost quality posters like him... not to mention the 120 plus comments discussing the banned episode.
Example # 3: Impact on BGOL CSI team - We all ask for who this girl or what happened to this girl every once in a while, and the fam knows that as soon as they post a question like Please Identify this girl or what ever happened to this actress, we know that hundreds of viewers are there ready to answer/comment about what they know.
I fear that the BGOL CSI quality will be reduced by this privatization attempt.
Finale Example of possible Negative Effective: Less Clowning
We all love to clown on certain BGOL members (see theblast's hilarious thread on bgol in bollywood ) so the main concern is that with less members in a private forum, will the incentive be the same to spend time in being creative to make just a hand full of people laugh?
Think back to all those funny gifs people made of members who were exposed!
Anyways, those are some of my concerns - I've over the issue of paying and don't mind it if the answer to issue 2 is that the quality of the board will still be entertaining.
