"People ask me all the time who I think will be the next superstar, now that Michael has retired. To me the next great player is Shaquille O'Neal. I truly believe his time is going to come. I don't know him at all, but I've got him marked down for four or five championships. He's sort of like Michael was early on. He hasn't figured it out yet, but he will."
--Larry Bird, from his book Bird Watching
shaquille o'neal himself on his weight while with the fakers:
"When I was here, they told me to be strong and do the job and that's what I did," O'Neal said. "An educational point: muscle weighs more than fat.
"I'm a big guy with a big frame and I lift heavy weights. When you lift heavy weights, you put on muscle and when you step on that scale, the number's going to be high. If I was out of shape and averaged 27 (points) and 10 (rebounds), I'm the greatest player ever created. And I know I'm not the greatest player ever created."
the last thing i would point out to readers who believed randy hill's nonsense is how this whole weight/out of shape/lazy propaganda began. it was disseminated by the fakers, who were trying to smear and leverage shaquille o'neal during contract negotiations.

congratulations. you ALL took the bait, hook, line and sinker.
