Is marriage worth it? (post from main board)

Ladies,

I've never posted on SOL but I'd like to hear it from a woman's POV. A brother posted this question in the main board and it's getting alot of responses. I gave my two cents, which are below. What do you ladies think?

.....
Actually, it truly depends on you.

If you are ready to completely commit yourself to it then yes. Now I know alot of people always ask, "are you ready?" no one know's what the fuck "ready" means. As being in the boat myself, I would ask myself this:

1. Are you ready to be completely committed to a monogamous relationship for the rest of your life. And you have to think about it as your "life", not for "the moment"

2. Are you ready to be completely "un-selfish" and un-conditional

3. Are you ready to share every aspect of your life with someone else.

4. How do you feel right now about your independence? If you have lived as a grown ass man who never had to answer to anyone about where you are going, what you are wearing, who you are with, etc. etc. etc. and have always enjoyed that. Then DEFINITELY DON'T DO IT. Your independence will be over, no matter how understanding the woman is now, as time goes on in the marriage, and especially when you have kids, all this shit will be out the window!!!!!!!!

I could go on and on but I'll stop there. And, for the record, I'm not venting, just sheding some light on the question on the floor.

yeah i know you posted this on the other board but heres my 2 cents, aaagain!!

I've been married for 25 years and to be honest, the shit sucks!! She has not kept up her end of the aggeement and dont give a fuck!! But still wants all the benefits that comes with being a married kept woman! Thats right nice car, nice house, nails, hair and toes done every week! Bitch is a shopaholic and gaining weight by the second!! Only wants to fuck when she's horney (about once a week and I gotta admit shes a good fuck, the pussy is real good, only reason her azz is still here!), cooks when she feels like it and dont clean a mathafuckin thing. If it wasnt for me and my sons this house would be a fuckin mess! Now in conclusion, you can get good puzzy anytime if your single so again, like i said before...............DONT FUCKIN GET MARRIED!!!<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

Oh, yeah....another "marriage ain't shit" thread...

Here's the thing: Marriage works for many, but, in our society, we'd rather harp on the horrible circumstances that surround some people's marriages or their difficulty situations rather than praise and try to figure out the factors that contribute to what marriages DO work...

Maybe it's not worth it to you, but, hey, different strokes, different folks...

College isn't worth it to some people, but for others, with a college degree, they've been able to achieve alot...

Is it an outdated institution? Not to me...but, I do think the rules have changed, given women's lib and the new freedoms that both men and women can be afforded given our microwave society...

1) no
2) no
3) no
4) I LOVE to do what I want when I want and will never give that up

most marriages end in divorce and everyone cheats anyway so why bother :hmm:
