Is Lupe Fiasco just another Twista?

My friend refuses to give Lupe Fiasco any credit and insists that he's just another Twista in terms of quick paced rap and them being both from Chicago, Lupe is just trying to imitate his style.​

What ya'll think? Personally, I like him and hes on of the few people whose music I listen since his lyrics/music seem to touch on many issues (check his Little Weapon, and Conflict Diamonds Tracks :yes:). Where as Twista is... I don't really care for him and don't really like him. So No I personally don't think Lupe is another Twista.

Lupes on a whole another level from Twista? In what way? Twista is legendary status.


I won't even up something like Overdose, it wouldn't be fair. You can't be serious. Here Lupe is on a track that sounds like a Twista track and can't even body it like Twista would.

Lupe is talented, his word play and analogies are dope, but getting it IN? Twista will rap circles around Lupe. Don't get all sadiddy cause Lupe is on his hip hopster Kanye shit. That don't mean you nicer lyrically than somebody else. Even Lupe will tell you not to mention his name next to Twistas. Red flag.
 
Saying nothing? Why? Because he does battle raps/gangsta rap and Lupe does book bag skate board shit? That's not a good reason. Ask anybody from Chicago what they think of that.

Again not taking away from Lupe, he does great songs, has great ways with words. Twista has been on tracks with Ras Kass & Jay-Z and just just SHINED. How one would figure he's chopped meat to Lupe is beyond me.

twisting is a form of fast rap that originated in chicago. (fuck what you heard, it did!)

EVERYBODY at some point and time in the chi raps fast. Twista is the quickest and clearest out of anyone, though there are some cats here who can compete with him real seriously.

lupe is not "biting" twista. like i said, everybody here does that.

check for psychodrama, do or die, triple darkness, qualoheem, all the way to gemini(gemstones) etc. and you will see what I mean

he sounds exactly the same on both the tracks youu posted. Im tired, and probably wrong but he might even be sayin the same exact shit, its not even worth decipherin to find out different. Sorry but my opinion stays the same.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not trying to say Twista is trash or even chopped meat to Lupe. He's holding his own.

I just don't listen to him ... reminds me Bone Thugs. Thats just me.

Do you have more about that? Is everyone out there in Chitown really that quick - Truthfully, aside from Common & Da Brat, I've never paid much attention Chicago in terms of hip hop/rap until I started listening to Lupe.

I lost all respect for Fiasco after his comments about why he was supporting Hilary Clinton over Barack Obama.
 
but lupe doesnt even use the double timed flow that much and unlike twist (whose lyrically dope) has great concepts as well as lyrics
so other than them both being from Chi i really dont see any simularity, he's being ignorant and sleepin on one of the best MC's of our age
 
People never pay attention to Twista. Twista is one of the most lyrical dudes out there. His word play and control is fucking sick. But all most people here is *fast rap, fast rap, fast rap, die, die, fast rap* :smh:

Twista is way more than what ya'll are giving him credit for. And I don't think Lupe in terms of lyricism or style is that far ahead of Twista on any day.

Now subject matter is subjective. That's that ol' Nas vs. Jay-Z arguement. Who's better the man who got something to say or the man who move the crowd. That's debatable all day.

But Twista is no slouch on the mic. :smh:
 
I don't wanna compare two great rappers, but if I most, I will. Twista is good in his own right, but Lupe is on another level. Lupe will be more relevant that Twista in future not just because Lupe has sold more ,but because his music is more versatile.
Lyrically Lupe is more clever
Message wise, Lupe can touch on more topics.
Listen to Lupe's intrumental, either he or his producer has musical knack for pairing him with the right music.
Lupe is more conceptual, without question. "The Cool" keeps the same theme throughtout the whole ablum but you have songs as different as Hello/Goodbye and Superstar.

Nobody can take anything away from Twista, but Lupes music and career took a better path.:cool:

PS: Lupe sounds nothing like Twista so I don't know where that argument, even came from. "Go Go Gadget Flow" sounds nothing like Twista and can't even come close to his speed.
 
lupe rarely does songs in that flow and twista rarely does songs in a slow flow. Totally different..

I dunno about that one adrenaline rush went gold and Kamikaze went platinum also if you count Legit ballers and mobstability both those went gold
