Killers younger and younger in Birmingham
A third teenage suspect has been arrested and charged in the murder of five people in Ensley Sunday.
Reginald Mims, a 16-year-old from Bessemer, has been charged with five counts of capital murder in the deaths of five men in the same house in Ensley.
Two other teenagers have also been arrested and charged for the crimes: Artavius Underwood, 16, of Birmingham and 17-year-old Rashad Stoves of Birmingham. Both are charged with five counts of capital murder.
In addition to the murder charges, Mims has a first degree robbery charge from an unrelated case and Stoves has charges of attempted murder and robbery from unrelated cases. Underwood made his first court appearance this morning when he was read the charges that he faces.
All three suspects are being held without bond in the Jefferson County Jail.
The names of the five men killed in a house in Ensley Highlands were released on Tuesday. They are 42-year-old Ronnie Render and his nephew Charles Render, Demetrius Sanford, Jeffery Davis, Jr. and Jonathan Sanchez. Four of the victims were shot execution-style. All died from gunshot wounds.
The shooting happened at approximately 3:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 29 in a home located at 3113 Avenue S.
