Ok… I knew this brother wrote a lot of goddamn hits but I didn’t know he wrote damn near the entire R&B BBQ playlist lmao… Midnight Star’s “Slow Jam” and The Whisper’s “Rock Steady” among so many others? Like damn, Im a music head and I knew he wrote many of these but I was legit surprised by a few. Dude is apparently still putting on a good show too!!

No American musican can or has ever been able achieve such
perfection. Gene Gene has been doing this for more than 40
years. In your land of the blind, maybe all the characters you
are mentioning count- not in mine

Wazekwa is better, he has been doing it for 30 years, maybe longer if it
is true, as he claims, that he was writing for others before becoming a
musician himself.

1 of the greatest song writers yes but not the greatest ever..

Who you got in this R&B shit?

Came here to say exactly that.

Babyface a bad man, but Smokey's R&B writing ruled the planet with that Motown sound.
Over Smokey Robinson? Over Gamble & Huff?

Respect to another legend! I guess I should’ve clarified the era better. I was thinking more contemporary.

I do believe he has Smokey beat. Face wrote bangers for a good 20 years straight.

I mean, 80s through the 90s and early 2000s :smh:

Crazy

There were songs in that medley I couldn’t believe he wrote, shit is wild. He’s too powerful lol.

Lmao, the funny shit is I fux with African music but dude’s approach is so off-putting. Calm down @Nzinga

And these are just the songs for men! :eek2: The catalog for women is ridiculous as well. Hell, that "Waiting to Exhale" soundtrack by itself is a classic.

I’m not sure who the best is or if there’s one best, but Prince is up there too.

I don't even think Prince's catalog is this deep with songs he wrote for other artists. But a lot of his can't be classified as R&B.
