Advice. I currently reside in PA and am relocating to GA with my Life and Health License. Wanting to expand my option I am considering taking the P&C test to obtain my Property and Casualty License.

Does anyone have any experience in this field? What are my options as an independent agent.? Thanks ahead.

Endless. The premiums that you collect are much higher. Especially if you target Commercial P & C. Good luck.

Had my P&C license in the pass. Good income because it's something that people MUST have at some point. Not everyone is preparing with Life Insurance.
Great Income. The only Con to me is the turn around. Some people get their P&C just to satisfy a lender and then they drop it. :smh:

Definately do commercial (churches, businesses) and workmen's comp. For some nickles and dimes do home owners. BUT stay away from auto. A lot of headaches. Cats getting canceled, lying about violations and bullshit bullshit bullshit. And in the end you don't really make a lot of money in auto. I charge $100 as an up front fee (yeah that's right).

Currently licensed in NC with P&C, Life, Health & Adjustor. In GA, the licenses are transferable but you'll have to surrender your licenses in PA to the Department of Insurance as soon as you establish residency in GA. There really isn't too much of a difference in dictation of law between the states so you wont have to do much but do continuing education in GA.

Property & Casualty is tricky, more tricky then Health in my opinion but not so much that you can't pass it. I recommend that you focus on the Standard Fire Policy and it's endorsements and coverages, the coverages/terms of the Homeowners, Dwelling & Flood and EVERYTHING COMMERCIAL as Commercial Insurance brings more money to the State and Insurance Companies period. Casualty is a breeze in regards to Auto, Workers Comp, etc..

I would recommend getting it before you head to Atlanta, there is a shortage of qualified agents with P&C licensing down there for some reason.

Marietta Area, ...Cobb County. Any Advice for selling in this area?

If you're selling in Marietta and looking to become an either an exclusive agent or broker, I would highly recommend hiring a bilingual agent to work alongside of you. There is the potential for traffic but there is also a lot of competition in that area. Also, if you do Marietta, make sure you're in a high income area where protection of assets is a must! I haven't lived in Atlanta in a long time but most of these cats on here can inform you of where these areas are now.

I would personally recommend working around Dunwoody/Buckhead/Sandy Springs if you want to really make bank. I was making over 130K a year selling insurance in that area when I got licensed and I half assed it. If you go EXCLUSIVE, I would recommend either going with Allstate, Farm Bureau or State Farm...Allstate is considered the Mercedes Benz of Insurance, Farm Bureau has excellent customer service and is recognized nationally for it and State Farm is just huge and recognizable.

Yep, there is a shortage of qualified folks in Insurance in general. Across the board. We can't find folks for our department at all. I'm in Commercial P&C.
