After nearly 46 years in a Louisiana prison, Wilbert Jones became a free man Wednesday after a judge overturned his conviction in a 1971 rape case.

You could call it a belated birthday gift. Jones turned 65 on November 1.
"My life was taken away from me for something I didn't do," he told CNN affiliate WAFB during an interview after his release.
Jones was convicted of raping a nurse after abducting her from outside a Baton Rouge hospital on October 2, 1971. He was arrested, tried and subsequently sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. He was 19 at the time of his arrest.
The victim's testimony was the only evidence that linked Jones to the crime. But she told police that she had doubts about her identification of Jones because the man who raped her was taller and had a rougher voice.
State District Judge Richard Anderson said the state had "at best" a weak case against Jones.

what makes it worse is I think laws in those states protect the prosecutor and police..so you cant sue them later even if you can prove it was their actions that led to your conviction..

See it's this kinda stuff that gets to me, and I'm talking about really bothers my spirit. This shit just fucked up my whole day.

Reason being, I truly believe that this could have been me, and still could happen with the way accusations are being thrown like paper planes.

What's the answer to this? Because we already know a disproportionate number of inmates are black, how many of them are wrongly convicted?

After 45 years, who cares? :dunno:

I’d make them feel what I felt.
Death is not comparable to prison. Prison is inhumane.

Life gone, life won
Huh?

After taking 45 years of this man's life the white muthafuckas have the nerve to appeal his release. I sincerely hope those filing the appeal die of cancer of the eyeballs.
Shit like this is why the older I get the more I despise white people generally.
