Truthfully I have, in 2 trips, spent slightly less than 2 months on the continent. My time was spread between 5 countries so I'm no authority on any. But; I am a voracious reader, and my subject of choice has been Africa for a good few years so while I'm no Dr. Charles S. Finch, I can share SOME interesting stuff and hopefully others can and will as well. Our resident "African" Nzinga, who according to himself hails from Africa has fallen woefully short in doing what he could have done to educate some of us in the diaspora. He chooses instead, to post the shittiest African music he find and be an arrogant antagonist. I hope he comes around. (Assuming he is truly African and has useful info to share) And I'll post some African music now and then, and I promise better stuff than Nzinga shits out. But if you show up here, Nzinga, feel free to contribute.

Speaking of LANGUAGES, there is only one country in Africa where Spanish is an official language ..... EQUATORIAL GUINEA

And speaking of the name GUINEA , few people know there are FOUR countries in the world with the name GUINEA ........ The countries of Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, and Equatorial Guinea all different countries and all lie in the Motherland, While New Guinea, on the other hand, is a country in the southwest Pacific.

And speaking of like named countries, also remember that there are 2 different Congos in Africa as well. There is the Democratic Republic of Congo, which was called Zaire for quite awhile, and now is informally called DRC and then there is the Republic of Congo. Two entirely different nations.

NOTE: The DRC remains fairly unstable in my opinion. There are ONLY three African nations that I would avoid traveling to for fear of the instability. Those would be DRC, the recently created (by Civil War) South Sudan, and Somalia. Anywhere else, I'm on my way! But do keep in mind, few places are as bad as they are reputed to be. If you're from a big amerikkkan city, you likely understand that already. What a shame! Somalia has some of the finest women on the planet.

And for the younger cats here who might not know, the languages spoken in any particular African country usually reflects which European country colonized them. In 1884 a meeting of the murderous countries of Europe took place in Berlin. This meeting was called the Berlin Conference where they agreed to chop up Africa and assign ownership to each others countries. Every country in today's Africa was colonized with the exception of the Eritrea/Ethiopia area. Ethiopia was designated to be the property of Italy, but when the Italians got there to claim their prize, they got their ass handed to them .... TWICE! So to this day, we see that in Angola, they speak Portuguese as they were colonized by Portugal. Madagascar speaks French, as the were colonized by France. Ghana speaks English, as they were colonized by England and so on.

For entertainment sake, this is an except from an email I sent my sister awhile back. I clipped it to save me some typing.

................Did I ever tell you how I could have been killed in Uganda? I was on an animal viewing safari. Me and the cute chick from Madagascar. At night everybody got their own deluxe hut. So it was early evening and I decided to take a little stroll in the parking lot. Nobody ever said I shouldn't. Got down the road and coming around the corner here comes a pack of big wild Hyenas! They're like 40 yards from me and they all stopped and looked at me and I froze! I may have cried a bit, LOL, I don't remember. They wouldn't leave but they didn't attack me, so I started walking backwards toward the hut REAL SLOW and they didn't chase or follow. OMG I have often pondered how I might eventually leave this world, but being eaten by Hyenas never even crossed my mind. Next morning we're in the main building having breakfast and just on the other side of the picture window is a Cape Buffalo laying on the grass sunning. I asked one of the guides what it would do if I went out to take it's picture.. (not that I was really gonna) and he replied "He will kill you!" Okayyy. Africa is a place where you don't go wandering outside the city limits. Plenty of stuff to kill you. Here in Belize I saw the biggest spider you could imagine... bigger than your open hand; bigger than a Tarantula, just crossing the road near my house ... there are snakes a plenty (some poisonous) but you very rarely hear of them biting anyone. And big giant lizards everywhere. Monkeys, toucans and jaguars, but you can go a lifetime and not see a jaguar, I'm told. They're shy and mysterious and don't come near people. Well, it after 7pm, my bedtime... yes, I'm getting old. Holla later, give my best to all.

THREAD TO BE CONTINUED......

I'll be honest, I dont know how I feel about Africa. I have no desire to live any place that's hot, and has wild animals, especially serpents, that can kill me. More importantly, I've always heard a lot of Africans think they're better than us. Then there's the economy.

I realize that Africa is a continent with many different countries and economies. However, it seems that even in African countries with good economies, say Nigeria, most people only earn minimum wage. So the standard of living would not be what I'm accustomed to here.

Motherland? The mother land is where your mother is born.
If your mother wasn't born in Africa... you need to cool out.
Africa DOES NOT WANT YOU.

Now if you admire Africa because it is the birthplace of ALL HUMANS then ok.
It is the birthplace of humanity with rich history. A lot of the history is lies though.

For example, all those borders are man made bullshit and not accurate.
Certain races currently living in Africa are imposters. Real Egyptians are not not Arabs. Real Jews are not white germans.
Israel is Africa. There is no such thing as "the Middle East". It is Africa.

EXACTLY the comment I love to see! Lemme deal with it cause this is why I made this thread. Cause there is so much bad info out there. First thing.... Don't like a hot place? My bestie lives in South Africa .... IT SNOWS THERE AND THERE ARE PENGUINS!!! Honest! And I just checked, right now in Cape Town South Africa it's 58 degrees Fahrenheit day time. Now about the serpents.... The amerikkkan west is loaded with rattlers, and no state in the US is snake free. Snakes span the globe, and Africa is no worse that anyplace else. You wanna see bad snake problems, go to Australia. Africa is nothing like Australia. You say you heard that a lot of Africans think they're better than you. First question... try to remember who gave you that notion and I'll bet you dollars to dimes the person who said it has never been anywhere NEAR Africa. If anything they seemed to put outsiders on a pedestal. Admittedly the hierarchy seemed to be white at top, black amerikkkans next and other Africans at bottom. They aren't perfect... neither are we. Little tip also.... guess how many amerikkkan Black folks think they're better that you. That's more a Western trait. You say in Africa most people only earn minimum wage. Newsflash ... most people, especially Blacks in amerikkka are in the EXACT same boat. Blacks make up the service industry in the US most making minimum wage. Why are you asking Africa to solve the issues amerikkka can't or won't solve? In the US 1% owns more than half the wealth! And as for the standard of living, you barometer is broken... so is almost everyone's in amerikkka. Cause IN YOUR MIND, you think standard of living means car, house, boat, Nikes, TV, and blah blah blah.... am I right? Cause amerikkka has conditioned you to be an insatiable consumer, living paycheck to paycheck, keeping up with your neighbor's junk.. Being in hock as a lifestyle. Having a bunch of plastic stuff, metal stuff etc has nothing to do with standard of living. When you have a son get murdered by a cop in amerikkka but you have a BMW in a country that ain't yours and gives no fucks about you, come back and tell me how much that BMW really meant.

This here is a concert jungle we was born it with more dangerous animals than the ones over there. There do need to be some fixing up. Like getting the whites and others out. In Nigeria the white boys beat the country out of a lot of billions every year that could be used to build for the natives there. African leaders that have tried to use the resources for the black natives always get killed. Most of the time it is America that have them killed. France had one black president of a small African country killed. One of the things he did that upset them is trying to build up the citizens of that country. Also he refused to have that country to continue to pay colonial taxes to France.

France takes billions every year from the francophone nations. Their colonial tax they claim. So ruthless that the United Nations has publicly condemned France for the theft. And you are correct... leaders in Africa who don't play by the rules tend to be either murdered having begun with Badu Bonsu II being beheaded by the Dutch during the slave trade, and continuing to what is called the most significant assassination in African history ... that of Patrice Lumumba which was financed by the UNITED STATES! Since those times not much has changed except the methodology, as was done by Obama who Black folks adore so much but they can't explain why. The murder of Qaddafi. Thus setting Pan Africanism back by who knows how long. I pray that Paul Kagame is protected as he is flipping over France's apple cart of late by doing away with the French bank.

People need to travel and visit African Countries. You will come back with a completely different perspective.

Additionally U need to travel out of the US. Visit Europe, visit China, experience other parts of the world. It will change your views about the US.

I was born in Ghana. Moved to the UK at 18 and spent the next 15 years there before I moved to Switzerland which is my current base. So I have lived in Europe for 25 years before I visited the US. I was disappointed. Today nothing would make me live in the US. I come for short holidays max 2 weeks and I leave and am glad to fly out.

I have property in Ghana and the UK. Next I want a retirement home in either Uganda or Tanzania or both. I will just bounce around these various homes. I would spend more time in Africa. The only thing the West has is better medical facilities. Beyond that there is nothing that would make a successful person want to settle in the US or Europe.

Where are you currently?
Considering the current climate how can someone born in the US get property in Ghana and the UK?
Do you know the steps to make that happen because it is a serious challenge.

I do not think anyone is making any international vacation trips ever again/anytime soon.

This corona thing is ending... travel restrictions will be lifted gradually. Europe has started lifting restrictions slowly.
Within the next 6 months, there will be a cure or a vaccine. African corona deaths have been low. The high death rates were only in America and Europe. The US response was pathetic and its because U had an incompetent leader. We will return to normal life.

I am in France. I cross back and forth France and Switzerland.

Travelling to Africa.............
This is long so I apologize in advance for any misspellings etc. Too long to proof-read... I'm tired

For those who wish to travel to Africa it is not as expensive as you might think. BUT it is, nonetheless expensive. But not out of reach of most who budget for it and have a career type job, rather than a low paying service industry job.

If you live on the Eastern half of the US, figure on about 1200 dollars for the round trip flight to Ghana. This reason I chose Ghana for this example is because it is said that Ghana should be your first destination in Africa. Ghana is affectionately called Africa-lite, as it is less of a culture shock than most other places on the continent. Most Afr-Ams make Ghana their first stop on African soil. Also many are drawn to the slave dungeons and memorials, even though they are not only in Ghana, but the Cape Coast is the largest and most visited. There are others in Elmina, Ghana, and a few other Ghanaian cities as well as some in other west African countries. Another popular one is on an Alcatraz looking island off the coast of Senegal. Once in Ghana, the best tour guide IMO is Ghana Research Tours operated by friends of mine, but do what works best. You can find them on Facebook I'm sure. They'll pick you up in Accra, take you for a guided tour of both Elmina and Cape Coast, a stop at a zip line place and whatever... for a reasonable price.

You'll need both a Visa and Passport and the passport everyone should have whether you're going to Africa or not. Just like people without a car tend to have a driver license anyway cause you just never know. The passport is a small pain in the ass, done through the post office, and the vise you get by contacting the country you plan to visit through their embassy in Washington DC. If I remember right it was 60 or 50 bucks. Have your passport BEFORE you seek your visa cause some countries want you to FedEx it to their embassy in DC and they Fed-Ex it back with the stamp.

Now, here's a place where my dumb ass took a bloodbath. To go to damn near ANY African country you need proof of a Yellow Fever Vaccination. (yellow fever card) Once you get it you never need another so don't lose it. Mine is stapled to the last page of my passport. Generally your doctor won't have that shot and your Blue Cross or whatever you have won't cover it. It is EXPENSIVE. Maybe 250 dollars or so. You get the shot by looking up "Travel Clinic" in your city. DO NOT LET THOSE MOTHERFUCKERS scare you into getting a shitload of other stuff! I didn't know any better and I walked out of there 770 dollars lighter. Get the yellow fever shot, some anti-malaria tablets (which I'm certain can be found much cheaper elsewhere, and don't let them scare talk you into a shit load of other stuff cause one guy in that country caught something 60 years ago.. Yellow fever and malaria and stop. And your odds of catching either of those two are still pretty slim if you didn't protect but do so.

In Ghana I lived at Frankie's on Oxford Street in Osu Accra, where all the action is but I could have saved a thousand dollars by doing Airbnb or shacking with a guesthouse. There are plenty of Ghanaians who would LOVE to have you stay in their extra bedroom for what to you will seem like pennies. Give them more anyway. But don't bring your new found fuck buddies to people's homes. Be a good traveler. What YOU do will be what they'll think all Black amerikkkans do so be on your best. But have your fun! Stay out of restaurants, eat fruit from the street vendors. You'll save a ton of money and look better in days to boot. So, minus what the women milk you for, I'm talking a trip to Africa for LESS THAN 2 thousand... and even less if you go with a buddy and share housing.

The sad thing is it's a LONG flight. I believe it was 12 hours from Washington DC when I few to Ghana. And after flying that far it's a shame for the guys who because on funds or their job can't stay and see more countries. And since this is BGOL, yes they have hookers, a lot in OSU on Friday and Saturday night.... some beautiful... they'll want 150 cedis or so... that's about 25 dollars US, but I will ask WHY????????? In Africa, you are the man... You can pull OVER 50% (or more) of the women you simply wink at. These women are looking for a better life. They know an amerikkkan from a block away! They'll be on you like flies on shit, and if you ever go damn near anyplace else outside of Ghana it get even better cause in Ghana they see us more, fir reason given earlier so we're a bit less of a novelty. In Uganda, Ethiopia, The Gam, the Z, Dar es Salaam.... shit you might get raped. But do understand, they =, like everyone else want a good life. Don't go there with a colonizers mindset. Nothing wrong with dating, getting your fuck on.. etc.... that's what grown folks do. But make the lady's life a little bit better by having met you. Stay a friend if you can. And don't be o hoe. Meet a nice, sweet fine girl, show her a good time, take her where she's never gone, fix her up like a doll, give her some happy money and THEN bust the guts. You might fall in love. They are mostly very sweet.

10 best countries in Africa where expats can relocate to and why
Thursday, April 22, 2021 at 4:55 PM by Priscillah Mueni

Screen-Hunter-88.jpg

Africa is the world's second-largest continent, and it covers about 6% of the surface area of earth. With a population of more than one billion, the continent is regarded as the second-most populous. The high numbers do not match the resources in the countries, and since the demand is higher than the supply, there has been a need for professionals to seek greener pastures. The details of the countries in Africa where expats can relocate to provide the best options that one could settle for. Western countries are known to have resources and opportunities that most people could tap on to. However, over the past years, the immigration rules have become more stringent, making it more difficult for foreigners to relocate. Nonetheless, there are African countries that are endowed with opportunities that professionals can explore. How about reading on for details on why one should consider living in these African countries? The best African country to immigrate to What is the best country to live in Africa? Before settling on a location, there are a couple of factors that one has to consider. Security and political stability are the most significant factors to keep in mind.

1. South Africa What is the easiest country to move to? South Africa is one of the African countries that have gladly embraced industrialization. It also takes pride in being home to the continent's richest city; Cape Town, which offers the luxuries of urbanization, especially because of its location. It lies between the iconic Table mountain and the ocean. South Africa also takes pride in its rapidly-developing technology industry, as seen in Johannesburg, which has set the record of being the economic capital of the continent since it is home to most of the international mining companies. The rapid growth of Small and Medium Enterprises is also a promising factor that an investor or expat would want to consider when relocating to South Africa.

2. Tanzania Even though more than a third of the population currently lives below the poverty line, Tanzania has a large expat community. Since the country is the most populous in the East African community. Its capital city, Dar es Salaam, acts as the main pull for expats because it is an economic and social hub. Tanzania has a couple of investment opportunities ranging from tourism, mining, to natural resources. The mining sector, for instance, has attracted investors from South Africa, Canada, and Australia, and the country is equally becoming competitive in gold production. Oil and gas companies are equally taking root and showing so much potential for professionals. If you are an expat looking for job opportunities in African countries, you might want to consider working for the NGOs and international companies in Tanzania.

3. Nigeria According to a survey that was done by Expat Insider, it was revealed that expats in Nigeria are among the highest global earners. More than 12% of the respondents who participated in the survey revealed that they bagged more than $250,000 last year. The survey is evidence that Nigeria is one of the highest paying countries in Africa. Nigeria stands as the highest paying country because of the risk factors that come with the country. Nigerian expats have to put up with a couple of risks posed by the Boko Haram and the kidnappers in the oil rigs. The figure can also be influenced by the long working hours that they are subjected to and the high cost of living in the country's biggest cities; Abuja and Lagos.

4. Kenya Kenya is another ideal destination for expats, as it boasts of state-of-the-art IT infrastructure and admirable cosmopolitan districts. Nairobi, its capital city, is considered as a hub for organizations like the Rockefeller Foundation and General Electric. Apart from good infrastructure, the country also has stylish but affordable housing options. Moreover, the country's culture is also welcoming, and it has a ton of opportunities that one can venture in.

5. Ghana Ghana has in the past couple of decades experienced significant growth in its transportation, mining, telecommunication, and hydrocarbon industries. Most expats regard Ghana as a 'hardship location'; hence, they enjoy the financial benefits that come with the notion. Apart from the opportunities, Ghana is generally a safe country, as it suffers less corruption and political instability, unlike most of its neighboring countries. The one thing that one should have in mind before relocating to the country is the unreliability of water and electricity.

6. Botswana Botswana is one of the largest producers of diamonds in the world; hence, it is safe to say that the mining industry has provided a lucrative opportunity. The country has attracted mining companies and expats from the rest of the world. The country's healthcare system is also reliable, although in severe cases, evacuation is considered.

7. Gabon Gabon is home to a population of more than 2 million people. Even though it is one of the least heard of countries in the western part of Africa, it has one of the highest urbanization rates in the world. It also boasts of being an upper-middle-income country since it is the fifth-largest oil-producing country in Africa. In the past decade, it has risen and attained strong economic stability because of its consistent production of oil and manganese. The oil production accounts for 80% of the country's exports, 60% of fiscal revenue, and 45% of GDP.

8. Libya Libya has a not so good record when it comes to civil war; however, this factor does not mean that the country should not be included in this list. Libya has an impressive human development index and life expectancy. Workers in the country also rank as the highest paid in the continent with an average monthly salary of $1700. Being an oil-producing country, Libya poses a lucrative opportunity, especially for individuals who possess technical skills.

9. Algeria Algeria not only stands out as the largest country in Africa but also as an oil-rich country in the northern part of Africa, with a human development index of 0.759. It has the tenth largest oil reserves in the world, and its current unemployment rate currently stands at 11.53% down from 20% in the past two decades. The country also has the highest life expectancy of all the African countries. These factors make it an ideal destination for expats.

10. Seychelles Seychelles is another one of the top 10 best countries in Africa, as it has a human development index of 0.801 and a life expectancy of 73.7 years. The country's economic growth is significantly influenced by tourism, and the country's GDP has grown more than six times in less than five decades. It is one of the most developed countries on the continent, and it offers free education and health care services to its citizens. These factors make it one of the best countries to live in Africa in 2020. If you are a professional who has been in search of greener pastures and has not landed the opportunity to travel overseas, you ought to consider these African countries that expats can relocate to.
