I'm watching The Wire again. Few more questions...

Weebay was the one who said that prison didnt break Cutty, after he told the story about how he shot a dude and then called 911 on himself.

The wire is one of the classic shows of all time and is still talked about long after the show is gone. I started re-watching it, but my rear projection TV was bullshit...I didn't know until I saw The Wire on my sister's brand new Samsung 46". That shit looks like it was shot in true HD. I put that shit away until I can get my new Samsung

Season 1 Barksdale could have regular dope because he had the towers and low rises with the muscle. He had a good connect with the market area to sell. Season 3 his muscle was gone , market gone , and now inferior priduct to the uncut dope off the ship. If that happens to any product you will have to.change strategy.....example auto industry of today. Why buy an expensive Chrysler when you cwn get a Honda for heaper and last longer ?

In season one he was getting his dope from the Dominicans in NY. After he went to jail they cut him off because they thought he might have snitch on the head guy in NY after he got busted. Then they were getting their dope from ATL but it was garbage. Stringer hooked up with prop Joe to get that good package in exchange for 3 of the towers but Avon brought in Brother Muzone. That's why Stringer wanted Brother gone. In the end of season 2 and all of 3 they were getting that good dope from Joe/co-op so Stringer wasn't concerned about the corners.

... and that's why I'm on season three now thanks to Netflix. With so many Wire references on this board and hearing so much about this Omar fella, I had to stop puttin' it off and running through it now. So far .... hmmmm .... It's ok! I may spoil it for you so stop reading now if you don't want to know, this is mainly for people who already seen it.

... was "The Docks" season 2 really worth watching? I thought the Wire was all pretty much all street. Sometimes I wanted to fast forward through those dock events but stuck it out. All the years of The Wire talk on here no mentioned the Docks, I was like "is this The Wire or Law & Order." There has been no "I gotta replay that again" moments from season 1 and 2. The "FUCK" crime scene search was funny.

LOL! Alot of people have that opinion, as did I until I went back and watch it again. That may have been the best writing of the series! Don't sleep on season II

anyone who doesn't appreciate season 2 cant see the bigger picture. it's like the damn circle of life in a lot of respects.

 Also, Season 2 was about the decline of the white working-class and American industrialization.

make sure you have time set aside. You're not going to be able to watch just one episode a week once u get the box sets.

There are two types of people in the world; people who know The Wire is the best show ever on television, and people who've never seen The Wire.

Agreed. The first time I watched it, I felt it was too far away.

but the second and third times made me realize how tragic that entire season was.

Everytime I watch it I hope that Sobotka doesn't get killed......

Any real Wire Head knows that season 2 (The White Season) was the best written season of the 5. The cats who hate season 2, don't want to give it props due to the lack of screen time they gave their favorite characters from 1. If I had to rank the seasons it will go like this...

3>4>1>2>5

Five things that you must remember...

1. sit back
2. relax
3. enjoy the series
4. shut the fuck up
5. stop asking fucking questions...

I still don't get the hype...but I will check it out one day...5 seasons? Damn. 10 years ago? Damn...I musta been sleep.

Season 2 and season 5 really go hand in hand....Season five, the media basically created and ran with a fabricated story, working with McNutty to build a serial killer. Meanwhile on the docks, muthafuccas was getting smoked for real. By a real live mafia don (that no one even knew existed) until bodies were discovered. If the press was doing it's job, season 2 might have ended very differently. Plus anyone who disregards season 2 will not understand why at the end Valchek as the Deputy Ops is a fucking joke

Oh, definitely.

season two was a necessary evil. In order for them to show you just how BIG this thing is, they had to go where they went with season 2.

agreed. Was so necessary with the overall thesis of the series, "It's All Connected"

Man season 2 was just an attempt for them to garner more white viewers.(the show had poor ratings) It was not a bad season by any stretch but it was no where near as good as season 1. In fact, it sticks out like a sore thumb among all the seasons. Most of the episodes of season 2were snooze fests.

S2 is so needed. And please put SPOILER in your message for folks who havent seen it yet.

exactly. the only cats i know who hated season 2 are the ones who only watch the show to see some hood shit..drug deals and murder... completely oblivious missing the bigger story playing out.

Ok, I'm about to finish The Wire right now (booting up the season finale on the WDTV). I watched all seasons didn't skip any and I have to say this is the best show of all time.

I do hope he handles Treme in a similar fashion.
Although I did see different aspects in that show's first season.

How is it a necessary "evil"

It's a great season.

Just because the main storyline is about the Docks featuring mainly white guys doesn't mean it's a lesser season by any means.

cuz if u were pulled into the show for the street element you didnt get what you wanted (but you got what u needed) during season 2.

i liked it.
