Join us for an enlightening presentation by Okomfo Nana Ama Nyamekye, MA, ADS, CHHC, This lecture seeks to bring awareness of the feminine aspect of nature of the universe, of earth, of man, and how to maintain our alignment in a society that is out of alignment. The session is for men and women. The talk will focus on the health of the African Community— showing the mind, body, spirit, community, and ancestral connections and how to incorporate a holistic view of health and implications and strategies for implementation. Integrating facets of healing and mental health, this session aims to explore the intricate relationships between these elements and their significance in fostering cultural restoration and reclaiming the identity of African Peoples.

About the speaker
Okomfo Nana Ama Nyamekye is a mental health counselor and trained African Priestess (Okomfo) in the Akan Akom tradition of Ghana, West Africa. Ama brings her expertise in African Spiritual practices and more than 20 years of experience in the study, training, and research of traditional healers in West Africa, Southern Africa, and Central America to her work with community healing collectives, organizations, and student groups.
In addition to holding dual master’s degrees in Africana Women’s Studies and Clinical Rehabilitation and Clinical Mental Health, Ama is also certified in several holistic healing modalities and frameworks, including Certified Holistic Health Consultant (CHHC); Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist (ADS); Sacred Woman Practitioner(SWP), Kemetic Yoga and Womb Yoga Dance (Abu Em Khat) Practitioner, and Naturopathic Reiki Practitioner.
As a visionary who is passionate about wellness and the practice of African Spirituality and traditional culture, Okomfo Ama is the founder of the Destiny Bound Wellness Institute (DBWI). Through the DBWI, Ama and her team offer workshops, lectures, and program development in the areas of Rites of Passage program development, wellness workshops, and research and training in Traditional African Spirituality and cultural practices. The institute is a holistic human service network company that provides education and cultural enrichment services to individuals, families, communities, and organizations.
The Mitochondrial MUT/Emma (Mother) Lecture is part of a larger workshop series created by Okomfo Nana Ama Nyamekye for the purpose of educating the community on Spirit Restoration practices and processes grounded in traditional African wisdom.
