Report: Yao done for the season
FOXSports.com

Updated: February 26, 2008, 1:40 PM EST

The Houston Rockets just can't catch a break.

Winners of 12 straight and just three games behind the West-leading Lakers, Houston will have to play the rest of its season without All-Star center Yao Ming, who has a stress fracture in his left foot, the Houston Chronicle reported on its Web site.

Yao will miss both the regular season and the postseason, should the Rockets make it that far, the report said.

The team will announce the diagnosis later Tuesday, the newspaper reported.

After missing just two games in his first three years in the league, Yao has been injury prone of late, playing in 57 games in the 2005-06 season, and 48 games last year. In 55 games this season, Yao was averaging 22 points and just under 11 rebounds per game.

Looks like its Deke to the rescue. :smh:

Seriously though, they may not even make it to the post season now let alone getting out the first round.

I can assure you that B Davis and the warriors will be sleeping very well tonight.

With Yao, it was bound to happen.

He plays a high level of basketball year round. (Both for the NBA and Chinese team.) He never gets an opportunity to rest. That is a recipe for injury.

with 3 consecutive seasons of 57 (or fewer) games played, yao ming's career has taken an eerily bill walton-esque turn.

at least there aren't any dumb asses making stupid comments like yao ming is fat, lazy or out of shape.

:roflmao:

It's a shame because the Rockets were playing excellent basketball.

Oh well, injuries are apart of the game.

The sad thing is that I read a report that said the Chinese National Team still wants him to play, despite the fact he won't be 100% :smh:

For some reason I think they're a better team with Mutombo. Leadership, DEFENSE, DEFENSE, and DEFENSE! I'm not a Yao fan, but he does drop them double doubles...
