I Just Found Out My Boy Tried to Commit Suicide

This brotha was a beacon of light in the community and is loved by everyone who comes across him. His story is one of the most amazing stories of personal growth and giving back that you will have ever heard in your life. From a former neighborhood gangster to a fierce community fighter changing lives through healing and mentorship. I reached out to him because I wanted him to experience another chance at running a business that would give him a tremendous amount of fulfillment and a higher probability of success, but sadly his response text took me by surprise and heartache.

I know there was a thread on here about brothas discussing suicide a while ago, and I wanted to share this story as there might be someone here currently feeling the same way. I know we have many personal differences on social and political matters, but I think we're all united in hoping that no harm befalls us and that our families are safe, loved, and well taken care of.

He chose to tell you so do right by the dude. I told one of my best friends since kindergarten I was having suicidal thoughts, next thing you know dude wasn't really checking up with me like I hoped. I felt there was a lack of loyalty on his end. Felt that way for a while actually. So I cut the nigga off. Funny thing is I feel stronger without him. Oh well.

I heard of so many people especially a lot of females, that were outgoing,

well educated and doing their thing.. it seems like since the plandemic,

lots of people got hit hard with depression...

I told my brother to tell his baby mama's other daughter, who was

depressed to the point of suicidal thoughts, to turn off her social media,

give that shit a break.. he told me a month later,

she took a month long fast from the interet, and felt a whole lot better,

especially after she realized more that half of the shit is lies and delusion....

when its one of us, its usually financial or a relationship gone sour...

I hope your homie realized that everything becomes anew, when you learn

how to let shit you cant control go, kick that shit like a fuckin field goal!!!

and just focus on the shit you can control....!!!

Indeed bruh. So many of us are undergoing unimaginable levels of stress due to the last few years. Some can deal with it better than others but like yous aid, you never know what pain lies behind that smile. The suicide rate for Back men have exponentially risen over the last few years.

Facts. Had a homegirl eat a bunch of pills some years ago. She reached out to me 1st and the shit she was on had me thinking she was showing signs of being suicidal but I'm like naw she way too smart 4 that. Her mom text me the next morning from her phone and told me what happened. I went and visited her at the hospital and after I left and they gave her her phone back she text me like "you know we can't be friends anymore." And I'm like why not. She's like cause you know what I did. And I just assured her I'd never bring it up to make her feel any way about. But that she could always talk to me about it if need be.

Kudos to you for sharing and bringing awareness. Shit is real out here and as much as folk act like they are strong or have shit together, no one is immune to unforseen occurrences or circumstances regardless of how much or well folk think they have their shit together or lives under control.

I've been through some shit personally that puts all this into perspective and while I'm not built to give up on life, I don't judge when people struggle. Just glad your boy didn't end his life and has a second chance to figure shit out. Props to you bro and sending out some good energy for your boy to get through.

A month ago I tried commiting suicide by walking into Nashville traffic with my eyes closed, when that didn't work I tried jumping off a building but was stopped by construction workers
Fast fwd last weekend and my son tried it the exact same way and I didn't even tell him out anybody about what I did.
I called my pops and he told us how he tried the same thing going thru it with my moms
SMH I truly believe in the generational thing

Life is one thing that doesn't come with instructions and you just never know what someone is going threw.

-It's usually the one's who come off as strong
-always in the middle of some drama cause their shit is fucked up so they try to make it rain on someone else's parade
-the quite anti-social person
-The one who seems to have it all....but isn't happy

Have I thought about punching my own ticket? Yes. Why haven't I? A chance encounter I had with an RN on the bus in 2004.

I saw this fine woman on the bus, so I approached her on my, Charlie Last Name Wilson.

I asked her where she worked and same said, "The Suicide Ward"

Excuse me?

"I work on a Ward with people who attempted suicide and failed. One guy did a swan dive from a 10 story building and is now quadriplegic. 2 guys shot themselves in the mouth and are now quadriplegic. One guy shot himself in the ear and is now quadriplegic."

I said Wow. But what she said next floored me.

"With every one of these people they are worse off now, WHATEVER their problems were, they are worse off NOW than they were the day before they did this.

Tomorrow COULD get better. Yes, it could get worse, too. But Tomorrow has the PROBABILITY of POSSIBILITIES.

Think about this the next time you think of attempting suicide:

What if I miss? If you think life is bad NOW, imagine life being 1000 times worse.

Your life ain't that bad.

Tomorrow has the probability of possibilities. It could get better, and it probably will

I was presented the opportunity to buy a very visible and loved community business for a huge discount, but because I am leaving the state, I decided to pass it up to someone I knew would be able to make a bigger difference than I could.

Working in mental health, I’ve lost a few people I have known who were successful in their attempts. I still think about them to this day. Kind souls who were struggling. The person who has stuck with me the most was a young lady in her late-20s. Major depression and alcoholism. She was shy and guarded but we built up a bond as we would often work shoulder to shoulder when she volunteered at our organization. I reminded her often how much her help was appreciated. It was a paid p/t position for her over time and we talked about movies, music, family, life, etc. She was my younger brother’s age and left behind her mom that she was close with. She was a pleasure to work with. Rest in peace to her.

I will say as someone who has had to deal with friends and family who have had to undergo inpatient treatment, nobody is allowed to have phones so I’m not sure how dude was able to text you.

Thanks, man. Yeah - hopefully her mom has been supported by others over time. Her only child (a kind soul).

When I heard the news years back it was like a punch in the gut. Same when hearing the news about other people who were older (45 - 60). Her news hit home given the amount of time working together and building that bond & friendship. One never knows what someone is going through ...
