3 shot, 2 fatally, in shooting outside armored truck in city’s northeast
PHILADELPHIA - Three armored car guards were shot, two of them fatally, in a robbery attempt outside a Northeast Philadelphia bank early Thursday, police said.
Two men and two women were trying to rob the vehicle outside a Wachovia bank when the shootings occurred shortly after 8 a.m., Lt. Frank Vanore said. Two guards were killed and the third guard suffered a graze wound, police said.
One male suspect fled on foot and the other fled in a car; it was not immediately known how the two female suspects escaped, police said.
