you think he made a lot of money from those 90's video?

now i can see it , but back then

how much he got paid for California love, i would like to find out

Shit, he probably made MORE in the 90's.. They had real album budgets back then..

Impressive, didn't know he had so much work under his belt ...

i didnt think he did so many

dam, that allot of videos!!

Word!

then he fucked up with Belly...

:lol::lol::lol: Don't like that shit.

I liked most of his videos he did with Busta Rhymes those always stood out to me.

The Biggie Smalls videos. Didn't he do "Hypnotize" for Biggie too?
Nas Street Dreams and "If I Ruled the World"

And especially the "California Love", I always felt he should've expanded that into a short film.

Hell, back then he probably made WAAAY more. It was easier for an album to go platinum back then, and albums were selling for almost $20 a pop. 1 platinum album could easily gross $20 million. So labels were throwing around $20 million album budgets like it was nothing, and dropping a couple million on a music video.

His 1997 resume alone was full of big budget artist (Puffy, Jay-Z, Missy, Busta, Will Smith, etc.). So I'd say its safe to assume dude was bringing a good paycheck during the 90's .

Hype Williams made the music video director relevant.
the man is truly a pioneer.

dude did a lot of great videos, but this is my favoriate

the Cinematography is crazy.
no one was making videos like this before Hype Williams.

P.S.

Belly is a urban classic. Sure the movie has some holes in the plot, but it was shot great and a lot of the scenes are classics.

Belly is the kind of money you can watch over and over again.

I always wondered what he was getting off those million dollar videos back in the late 90's, early part of the century

Dude had no budget back then, but now he has to make a $100,000 video look like a million dollar one.

Hype Williams made the music video director relevant.
the man is truly a pioneer.

I'd say Lionel Martin and F Gary Gray

In the 90s the budgets for the bigger videos were over a million dollars.
Him and cats like Paul Hunter did the biggest budgeted videos and commercials back then.
They definitely made a killing.

I think they ate well enough to were they didn't feel a need to transition into movies or TV.

I think Hype deserves credit for being one of key the forces that pushed Hip-Hop/Rap into a global and mainstream juggernaut.

Please expand on that, bro.

sorry Ten, didn't noticed your reply till now
basically the producers stopped funding the movie and Hype never got to shoot the scenes that would make the movie whole as per the original scenario, that's why the final result is so clumsy
