My idea is to publish a directory (.pdf on cd-rom) of Asian vendors of a particular product that is in high demand in a female dominated industry here in the USA.

I'd like for the vendors to pay an upfront fee that guarantees that their company info/profile will be published for 2 or 3 years.

My question is: What is a reasonable amount in USD (dollars) to solicit from the vendors?

My target audience is in the tens of thousands and its a win win situation for both myself and the asian vendors as they need credibility and exposure in the American market. The directory will be sold in the hundreds within the first year...

How does one approach Indian and Chinese business owners to pay for the advertisement up front? I also considered including a paper and cd-rom copy of the directory for their use with the fees.

Should I make them renew annually?

Just a few thoughts bro.

For a normal directory listing, nowadays thats usually free.

Have you thought of an online directory? That route the listings would still be free, but you would rely on banner advertising from those listed to generate income.

The advantage of the online route is the ability to upload the new additions dynamically as well as update their info quickly (as opposed to a 3 year listing which can prove quite dated)

You would also save on the printing costs as well as reach further markets.

A few more.

I have received several catalogs shipped to my door from asian distributors and have not paid a dime for them. Full colour several pages.

If u were to compile such a directory, for the fee that u planned on charging me to obtain the catalog... what r u guarnteeing? I have dealt with several shifty downright theiving companies there from cars to fly swatters and its not a good experience.

What am i going to do. Fly there an come look for them?

It would leave a very bad taste in consumers mouths and your publication would quickly lose credibility. You dont want that.

Going to have to decide who u making coin on. The distributors or potential buyers. Cant balance both without some serious reasearch..

Props bruh...I had a bad experience with a vendor last week. I won't be attaching my company name to them thieves.

I'ma just go on and sell directly to the industry.
