I work off mac osx and primarily I do static mom and pop
html web sites! Basically my potential client has an e-commerce
site they want me to build:(. I've been hearing I need to make a database
site (PHP) but I have no knowlege of this. my potential client is using pay pal on the backend and wants a turn-around maybe 1st week in October:eek:
I never used pay pal is this easy to integrate?

Should I just bulid the way I know how(static) or is 2 1/2 weeks enough time
for me to learn how to bulid a database? Anybody use cartweaver or filemaker,or got templates? I got to hit them with a contract on monday any insight would help a brother out.

give the job to someone else if it is multiple products. If it is a single product you can use paypal. The really need to spend some money and get a merchant account.

Why should I give them up if they have multiple products to sell? does pay pal not intergrate well when dealing with multiple products? Giving them up
is not an option for me just yet. But I appreciate the feedback fam.

Anyone else got any insight:confused:

I dunno man. When I first started I began with Yahoo sitebuilder which made it easy to implement e-commerce since they have built in functions. I downloading Joomla a while ago and didn't know how to upload the shit. But after playing with it, I finally uploaded my first template and so forth. I'm still learning about the the components and modules.

If aren't savvy when it comes to creating websites, then you shouldn't be taking anyones money. The type of database you probably need is MYSQL or SQL. It's very easy man. Just depends on the programs you are using and if your hosting company supports it's functions.

But paypal is fairly easy to intergrate but again, it depends on what program you are using. You're not gonna find much on BGOL but I suggest you go to http://www.projectw.org

Look here homie fuck all the writen it raw, building databases and all that! Get you an out the box ecommerce platform. These are prefect. http://www.qualiteam.biz/ Lite Commerce or X-Cart
I'll use something like litecommerce. Ill buy lite commerce for like 99 USD plus whatever plugin options that the client wants, install it on my server, skin it and completely customize it, then hit the client for a grand or so. These platforms have tons of client friendly options such as ups, fedex shipping weight and cost, live inventory control ect ect. Or you can go with x-cart its more money but you have even more options. Got more questions hit me

PAYPAL allows you GENERATE YOUR OWN BUTTONS in HTML...can't beat that if you dont use PHP...

Some webhosting companies have its own e-commerce integrated in the package. I use cube cart which is very easy to use. You gonna need a merchant account that is gonna have to be compatible with the commerce gateway. Then you gonna have to link all that to a bank account. As far as the e-commerce store front use the easiest first and then try something else. I recommend cube cart. PM me if you have any questions.

zencart is free and works with paypal, googlecheckout, securepay, authorize.net, you name it.

go check it out at zencart.com

oh yeah, and you can use it with php.

If you haven't got the job done yet I'll do all the coding for you if you split some of the bread. If you want to see want of my ecommerce sites check out http://www.bobbyhdiamond.com and hit store. It has complete paypal integration with no cheesy HTML links. My store adds the totals up with the tax...if applicable and then links to paypal where the order is processed.

This is my favorite out of these ecommerce solutions. Check the features list. These folks think about everything from a sales/ marketing point of view and if you ask them to add a feature, they'll most likely do it if it makes sense. They have a design team that will create a logo for you as well.

New service that I've hears good things about. They're offering a 3 month free trial through techcrunch for next 500 users entering code: GBIZTC

They get good reviews. The sites have a clean web2.0 look/ feel but most seem pretty basic.

A few options for ecommerce enabled sites without having to handcode everything from the ground up. Instantestore is a BEAST.
