What the fuck did he just say?
The reason I said "BLACK" athlete, is because 1. I'm black, 2. I don't give a fuck about cracka athletes, and 3. 9 times out of 10 white college athletes do not speak like a nascar fan from the Appalachians. Why the hell would they get credit for god given talent?jb692480 said:Let's move pass the black athlete and just say athlete. Speaking doesn't make you smart, intell., or mean you know any thing. The gift of the gab is what you call it. Let's give 'em credit for being a professional athlete. And one athlete doesn't rep who i am nor speak for me.
Blunt said:The lack of ability to speak lucidly on-camera, without any preparation, has ZERO to do with whether you're a "black college athlete" or not. Some of the most brilliant, best educated (white) people on the planet have "frozen-up" on-camera and been known to speak incoherently, while some of the most poorly-educated, least sophisticated black folks (e.g., Cassius Clay/Muhammad Ali) are well-known for speaking brilliantly and lucidly in public!!
Formal "education" has nothing to do with being glib, and, in fact, MOST "black college athletes" actually have little or no problem speaking on-camera, even though this is a very awkward and unnatural situation for them (as it would be for ANYONE). Kinda ignorant to pick on those few who may struggle (for whatever reason).
This thread is the usual, stereotypically-based, attention-whorish attempt at inciting controversy by someone whose (fake-ass) view of humanity is always severely negative.
Dr. Truth said:Just curious what school you graduated from? We had to take Public Speaking in order to obtain your BA/BS. It was a requirement for all undergrads. Usually it's done your Freshman year.

when will the american public FINALLY realize that college athletics, primarily baseball, basketball, and football, are just "farm" systems for the pro leagues?
sure, they have the opportunity to get an education on a college scholarship, but they GENERATE A TON OF MONEY for the universities thru sports tv contracts, etc. and they don't see ANY of THAT money.
i think it's high time that colleges start PAYING their athletes... cause a very small percentage will make it to the next level and some have career-ending injuries and NOTHING to fall back on once they realize that college is for learning first.

IT IS ANNOYING....but it is a microcosm of the times. there are few 'scholar-athletes'.these boys are in college because there are no minor leagues like there are in baseball and hockey. ....did you ever hear those boys speak? they are not the brightest or shiniest bulbs in the ceiling. but as long as they are not representing me in court or attempting a triple bypass with my chest cracked open it's ok with me.think about it.....the ones you are hearing from are the ones who in large part went to college for the express purpose of moving on to the next level. i was a helluva ballplyer, but i knew my ass wasnt gonna be an nba star so i hit the books. lots of other do today as well. these 'college' and professional athletes should not be the roll models that our youth look up to.......nor should it be those ignorant ass rappers. i give them all props for excelling at their chosen craft!!!!!!!!Blunt said:This inane, antagonistic question comes from a supposed "Dr." who has the spelling/grammar skills of a 5-year-old and the vulgar vocabulary of a two-bit hoodlum.

Not to disrespect...the_monsterous_monster said:to keep it real, nobody speaks proper English...what we speak here in America is a very bastardized version of the King's English....with that fact being stated, the question is why don't people speak the bastardized English that is commonly viewed as being soothing to the ear???
I don't know the answer, nor do I really care....all I know is that I can speak both languages fluently....when I'm with one crowd, I speak street like a motherfucker....then out of nowhere, I can just as quickly start using my vocabulary....but whatever...language is forever changing ....and so are the standards...
