Put down a company in your area that went out of business. Who they going to call for a reference? Nobody there no more. Recession.

You need to call the company first and see if you can verify. This is a good idea, thanks...
and thanks to the two other cats with the advice.
Do they check graduation dates as well?
Employers aren't offended at someone doing a low-end job. If anything it shows them you are serious about work and you have humility. Nobody is going to deny you a job because you took a job cleaning toilets or McDonalds.![]()

this is fine if you're just applying at Target or Hooters but if you trying to get a real job where you can see yourself retiring from it's best to tell the truth because if you get hired and it's soon discovered you lied on your application/resume your ass is out the door no questions asked.
Dude, if you've been working decent jobs, and had a one or 2 crummy jobs in between because you got laid off or whatever, an employer will not hold that against you. However, if your only jobs were McDonalds and you're applying for V.P. of Microsoft, you have a problem.I never worked at mickey d's but trust me put mickey d's on your resume and see where that gets you?
Keep on telling yourself that... employers won't fuck with you if you worked shit jobs in the past, best to leave them off....
This is America, that righteous cac talk is all smoke and mirrors.

Your theory about only writing down your most flattering jobs on your resume is a bit silly. Bosses want to see that you're willing to do whatever job, and whatever it takes. Once again, it shows character if in 2003 you were the district manager of a company, got laid off, and took a janitor job in the meantime to support your family.
What would they rather see, you were a janitor, or you were a black woman who resorts to welfare the minute shit gets rough?![]()
