Hospital fires employee who wore controversial shirt to Mississippi poll

Dude i agree with u all day!! Cause if i decide to wear a black lives matter shirt n my employer doesnt like it then thats ground for termination... nah.. they trying shit.. i dnt like the shirt but hell if they do it to him then my black ass outta there

This is like comparing the Black Panther Party to the KKK, which white people love to do. There’s a big difference between wearing a Black Lives Matter shirt that advocates equal justice vs. a Confederate shirt with a noose that advocates “Mississippi justice.” Mississippi is a state with a history of lynching innocent black men and women under the guise of “justice.”

I would agree about the employer being on some bullshit except the employer in this case is a hospital. Hospital's code of conduct don't fuck around. A good friend of mine used to use to work as a housekeeper at Penn Hospital and he would tell me about all the crazy reasons people could be fired over. It don't matter if you're a doctor, the CEO, or the guy picking up trash. You can't ever get caught breaking the code of conduct.

eewwwww why y’all entertain these niggas smmfh?
I can only hope you posted this because you just glanced at the shirt and didn't notice the noose. Maybe you thought Dukes of Hazzard or some shit.
Yes you can! You have the right to free speech but you also have to suffer the consequences for the foolish shit you said!
What do you mean how can employers control what you do in your free time..
Shheeeeeet if anyone is that concerned take some time and read some of that paperwork you signed

Before you got the job...

Most non skilled job have in their contract they could let you go for any reason at anytime.....

A dude was out drinking with a coworker they went bar hopping and was having a good time...

Dude got too stupid and horny and told the coworker I know a better place we can go.

And showed her his hotel key...

She just smiled and respectfully declined...

He thought shit was sweet till he got back to work the next day..

And was told to report to human resources first thing in the morning

Long story a little longer ..

He was fired on the spot for sexually harassing a coworker.... An this happend after work in a different part of the city
as i'm reading, it shows he was a cop at one point and was forced to resign over a situation with him a minor female and alcohol
He's a complete lowlife.
are you serious?dude that means he dont like black people/the same black people that he takes care of at his job.that means he they might be getting treated bad at that hospital.smh some people dont use their heads.yes fire him .you dont know how many people he might have mistreated at his job.
Apart from the obvious concerns around the way an employee represents their org...

This guy was an EMT. How could anyone have confidence that he would regard all lives in his care as being equally worthy of his best effort when he obviously holds/espouses racist views?

This shit is cut and dried... and I'm LOVING this parade of social media firings, fuck all these CACs
As a Black man, you should be worried about both.

I got a POSITIVE message the bgol fam can spread...

That's real. Will do my part and call + email (don't do the twitter thing anymore). Wishing your baby good health bruh, stay up

I don’t agree with the shirt but you can’t just be firing people for expressing themselves.

I get what y'all are saying, but in 2018, if a cac wants to wear that kind of shirt, he has to be his own boss or work for like-minded people...

... like the trump administration.

How exactly are they attempting to control what he does in his free time? He's absolutely free to do whatever and wear whatever in his free time. They don't want to be associated with him though. What if a black patient dies while he's tending to him/her and there's a question about his actions? That picture might be brought up and it will lead to valid questions.

I get all that I see the shirt but how can my employer control what I do in my free time. If he wore it to work it would be a different story. As a black man I would be less worried about the people who told me or showed me they didn’t like vs the one smiling in my face waiting for their moment

The cool thing is that idiot is permanently a part of the internet for all future employers and co-workers to see. At some point I hope someone whoops his ass.

It’s called pre emptive action. You don’t want some with hateful and murderous intentions around sick and weak people who they hate. Bravo to the hospital CEO

Imagine if he killed somebody like that and there was proof that the hospital knew about his beliefs and state of mind.

He works with the public in a hospital. Do you think his "expression" stops at the t-shirt?

I GOT YOU BRO HOPE SHE GETS WELL i got a prayer ill be sending out for her.

I used to work at that hospital back when it was called The Med.

Black folks are all up in administration, CEO's been Black since the 90s.

His ass was grass as soon as he stepped out his house that day.

I thought it interesting that Bomani would weigh in on wearing a controversial t-shirt when he was the one who got a lot of shit for wearing that "Caucasians" shirt...

...a shirt I'm still trying to find, btw.

Because his prevailing point was a shirt merely mimicking a logo white people are OK with... Is controversial solely because it said Caucasians, is then grouped with a shirt embracing lynching. They're attepting to declaw the message by filing it under "controversial" when there are far better titles to file it under.

Wasn't completely off base... The city he lives in is literally 2 miles from the Tenn border and he works in Tenn
Olive Branch literally borders Memphis. I used to live 4 houses from the state line, once you cross it youre in Olive Branch.

And you knew it too cause the cops were dicks.
