If you have a 42", or larger, digital television and a nice receiver with surround sound what do you plug it all into--i.e., what kind of surge protectors and/or battery backup system are you using?

Tripp Lite HT10DBS 10-Outlet Home Theater Surge Protector

You can get it for 80 bucks now.

I don't own a home theater... or even a television for that matter. However, I run my computers, guitar amps and whatnot through APC Back-UPS Pro 100 uninterruptable power supplies.

It not only protects against surges, it also protects against drops in voltage and warns of bad grounds and so forth.

If you dropped a nice chunk of change on your home theater, you might want to consider something better than a simple surge protector.

Thanks. I'm researching that now.

I have two systems in my home, both with Rotel amps and processors...so I use a Rotel surge protector/voltage regulator in both.

It's made by APC for Rotel.

That APC unit he is speaking of is excellent...because of the quality and the price.

Monster on the other hand,is twice as costly...they want you to buy a power conditioner, then another voltage regulator.

The APC/Rotel is all in one...

Yeah, it's no secret that everything Monster makes is overpriced. Moreover, their quality is suspect too. I know to steer clear from them.

I have the Monster and it works great. DO NOT use an UPS for your TV or other sensitive items. They do not provide a good AC since wave to your equipment. It is fine for surges, spikes and quick sags but when it goes on batteries the wave form is a square wave and can damage your TV. It is fine for your printer or home computer but can cause long term damage to your big screen.
