Rush Limbaugh takes on Batman:
Says ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ features villain
that’s a deliberate affront to Mitt Romney

"The movie has been in the works for a a long time, the release date's been
known, summer 2012 for a long time. Do you think that it is accidental, that
the name of the really vicious, fire-breathing, four-eyed whatever-it-is villain
in this movie is named <SPAN style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffff00">Bain</span>,"
says Limbaugh.

Tom Hardy as Bane in “The Dark Knight Rises” — Says Rush Limbaugh, “Do you think that it is
accidental, that the name of the really vicious, fire-breathing, four-eyed whatever-it-is villain in this
movie is named Bain.” As a matter of fact, the character Bane was created for DC Comics
in 1993.

Riddle me this Batman, what the heck is Rush Limbaugh talking about?
The conservative firebrand slammed what he called “The Dark Knight Lights Up” - better known as “The Dark Knight Rises” to the millions of movie-goers who will flock to see it after it hits theaters Friday.

Limbaugh charged director Christopher Nolan Tuesday with a plot worthy of the diabolical Joker: choosing a villain that benefits Presidential Obama in the upcoming election.

“Do you know the name of the villain in this movie? Bane,” Limbaugh told his radio audience. “The villain in the Dark Knight Rises is named Bane. B-A-N-E. What is the name of the venture capital firm that Romney ran, and around which there's now this make-believe controversy? Bain.

“The movie has been in the works for a a long time, the release date's been known, summer 2012 for a long time. Do you think that it is accidental, that the name of the really vicious, fire-breathing, four-eyed whatever-it-is villain in this movie is named Bain.”

It is actually entirely coincidental. The character was created in 1993 for DC Comics - long before Romney emerged as a political heavyweight on the national scene.

“This evil villain in the new Batman movie is named Bane,” Limbaugh continued. “And there's now discussion out there as to whether or not this was purposeful, and whether or not it will influence voters.

“It's going to have a lot of people. This movie, the audience is going to be huge, lot of people are going to see the movie. And it's a lot of brain-dead people, entertainment, the pop-culture crowd. And they're going to hear Bane in the movie, and they are going to associate Bain, and the thought is that when they start paying attention to the campaign later in the year, and Obama, the Democrats keep talking about Bain, not Bain Capital, but Bain, Romney and Bain, that these people will think back to the Batman movie -- "Oh yeah, I know who that is" That's -- there are some people who think it will work.”

Though Christopher Nolan has insisted that “really these films are about entertainment,” critics have called the film’s plot - which involves Bane and his thugs attacking Gotham City’s rich, as a pro-Occupy Wall St. allegory. Even though the script was written months before the movement formed in New York’s Zuccotti Park, even Batman himself, Christian Bale commented on the the coincidental timing,

“There’s also something that I’ve found uncanny with Chris’ ability to make the movies very topical,” Bale recently told reporters. “There’s something happening with Occupy Wall Street, which was actually happening a couple of blocks away from where we were filming in New York. Which he had no way of knowing when he wrote the script, but by the time it was happening, I was looking at him going, ‘how did you know?’”

At least 10 people were killed in a shooting at a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado early Friday

(CNN) -- At least 14 people were killed and 50 were wounded when a gunman opened fire during an early Friday morning screening of the new Batman movie at an Aurora, Colorado, theater, Police Chief Dan Oates told reporters.

The man suspected of opening fire on the crowded theater was taken into custody, Oates said.

The heavily armed suspect, who was wearing a bulletproof vest, was apprehended by police in a parking lot at the theater, Frank Fania, a police spokesman told CNN. The identity of the suspect has not immediately been released.

"We do no have evidence of a second gunman," Oates said.

Of the wounded, at least 20 were being treated at the University of Colorado Hospital, said spokeswoman Jacque Montgomery. All of the wounded suffered from gunshot wounds, which ranged from minor to critical, she said.

"They're arriving by police, by ambulance. Some are walking in," she said.

The shooting incident occurred during the showing of "The Dark Knight Rises" at the Century Aurora 16 theater, police and witnesses said.

"We saw people running around and screaming," a man, who was not identified, told KUSA.

He said there was confusion in the theater when the shooting began because many believed the sound of gunfire was coming from the movie next door.

Oates said that the suspect used some sort of "smoke device" before opening fire in the theater.

Witnesses, however, told KUSA that the gunman kicked in an emergency exit door and threw a smoke bomb into the darkened theater before opening fire.

"Michelle and I are shocked and saddened by the horrific and tragic shooting in Colorado.

"Federal and local law enforcement are still responding, and my administration will do everything that we can to support the people of Aurora in this extraordinarily difficult time.

"We are committed to bringing whoever was responsible to justice, ensuring the safety of our people, and caring for those who have been wounded

"As we do when confronted by moments of darkness and challenge, we must now come together as one American family.

"All of us must have the people of Aurora in our thoughts and prayers as they confront the loss of family, friends and neighbours, and we must stand together with them in the challenging hours and days to come."

- President Barack Obama, statement following the shooting
