Yesterday, Ars Technica reported that one of their informants passed along information regarding some new Xbox 360 packages, set to ship this October. According to the report, both the Xbox 360 Pro and Elite will come bundled with with Forza Motorsport 2 and Activision published Marvel Ultimate Alliance.

Today, listings have appeared on Best Buy's Web site which support these claims -- both the Xbox 360 Elite Bundle ($449.99) and the Microsoft Xbox 360 Console Bundle ($349.99) are being listed, and available for pre-order. While no date is listed, Ars Technica's mole suggests October 9 for the Pro and October 23 for the Elite.

Additionally, this mysterious and all-knowing mole also suggests a new Xbox Core SKU will be available at the end of October. It's said to include a new version of the system with an HDMI port, a wireless controller, a 256MB memory card, and five arcade games included on a disc (Boom-Boom Rocket, Pac-Man, Uno, Feeding Frenzy, and Luxor 2). The package is said to retail for $279.99, which is an absolutely ridiculous deal, and could definitely move some units for Microsoft this Holiday.

What does that have to do with Sony? I'm not following. MS already has a solid holiday lineup, that much is known. How this affects Sony I don't see it, unless they are not offering up anything.

there are rumors of a $399 ps3 this holiday after the halo 3 craze, but its a movie bundle (spiderman 3) a bit appealing for the price

but then woah hold up, MS drops a bundle around the same time or earlier with 2 games

those still on the fence about a next gen system will then say hey i get two games with the 360

bumping for those interested in getting a 360 this season, i already have a 360 so this deal does me no good, but if you were planning on getting one, an hdmi 360 with 2 games is the best deal you can get

i'm waiting till the new year when i'm sure all the older 360 are off the shelves to trade mine in for a newer hdmi model

Microsoft confirms Xbox 360 Marvel/Forza bundles

The rumors and leaks have once again proven to be true: Microsoft has revealed today that they will be offering two bundles this holiday, set to hit stores by the end of October.

Microsoft will be packing in two games with both the $399.99 Xbox 360 package, and the $449.99 Xbox 360 Elite package. As previously reported, the games in question will be Activision's Marvel Ultimate Alliance and Microsoft Game Studios' Forza Motorsport 2.

Not much more to report on this, as it is what it is. Interesting, though, is Microsoft's choice to highlight Metacritic.com it today's press release. They point out that out of the top 30 next-gen titles, 21 of them are Xbox 360 titles. They then land this punch:

The most-respected game reviewers have spoken and according to them, Xbox 360 has more than double the games of the PlayStation 3 and Wii receiving a score of 90 or higher.

Oh snap!

Hot on the heels of a price reduction for all Xbox 360 consoles, Microsoft is now giving holiday buyers even more value by including two great games with every Xbox 360 console and Xbox 360 Elite, a retail savings of $90 for consumers. The acclaimed “Forza Motorsport 2” (Microsoft Game Studios) and “Marvel Ultimate Alliance” (Activision) will both be included for the recently reduced prices of $349.99 (U.S.) for Xbox 360 and $449.99 (U.S.) for Xbox 360 Elite. Both bundles will be available retail-wide by the end of October.

Xbox 360 offers the best value this holiday and is the only place you can play all the titles in the greatest holiday line-up of video game in history. This line-up includes “Halo 3” (MGS), which became the fastest-selling video game ever and is making history as one of the biggest entertainment launches of all time.

“Halo 3” (MGS) is just one title in an incredible holiday line-up that are all only available on one game platform, Xbox 360. Starting with "Madden NFL 08" (EA Sports), Xbox 360 has an unprecedented string of no less than seven blockbuster titles, each of which we expect to sell at least a million units, including "BioShock" (2K Games), the record breaking "Halo 3" (GS) "Project Gotham Racing 4" (MGS), "Mass Effect" (MGS), "Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock" (Activision) and "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" (Activision).

Xbox 360 is home to the most critically acclaimed next generation games according to Metacritic.com, the leading aggregator of game reviews from more than 100 publications. Of the top 30 next generation game titles on Metacritic.com, 21 are on Xbox 360 and five games exclusive to Xbox 360 score above 90 out of 100. In fact, “Forza Motorsport 2” (MGS) has received an aggregate review score of 90, producing a “Universal Acclaim” rating.
The most-respected game reviewers have spoken and according to them, Xbox 360 has more than double the games of the PlayStation 3 and Wii receiving a score of 90 or higher.

New Xbox 360 Bundles to Include Forza 2, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance by Late October

by Chris Faylor Oct 08, 2007 9:14am CST
Turn 10's highly customizable racer Forza Motorsport 2 and Raven Software's superhero beat-em-up Marvel: Ultimate Alliance will now come packaged with the standard $349.99 Xbox 360 and $449.99 Xbox 360 Elite, Microsoft announced this morning. Both titles were well received by the gaming populace at the time of their respective releases--the multiplatform Marvel: Ultimate Alliance arrived in fall 2006, whereas the Xbox 360 exclusive Forza Motorsport 2 skidded into stores this spring.

No mention was made of the $399.99 Halo 3 Special Edition Xbox 360, which does not pack Halo 3 or any other bundled game, or the $279.99 Xbox 360 Core system, which does not come with the necessary storage media to save progress in a hypothetical bundled game.

Rumors and retailer listings have indicated that Microsoft will replace the Core package with a new Xbox 360 Arcade bundle, which would carry the same price but come with additional goodies such as a 256MB Memory Card and a five-game Xbox Live Arcade disc. The Xbox 360 Arcade is also said to pack a wireless controller; the Core is the only Xbox 360 SKU to include a wired controller.

The game-packing bundle announced today will be available in stores by late October, the same timeframe that rumors and listings give for the Xbox 360 Arcade package. As noted earlier this year, the standard Xbox 360 now ships with the HDMI port that premiered on the Xbox 360 Elite hardware, another feature not found on the Core unit but rumored to be included in the Arcade system.
