Hit-Boy is turning misfortune into music after his studio was targeted by robbers.
On Sunday (January 4), the multi-platinum producer/rapper released a new song called “Crow Bars” inspired by the scary incident, which occurred in the early hours of that morning.
“This morning around 4am some idiots broke into my office / studio and went thru a hassle just to get next to nothing. I had my grammys there and I know they wanted my jewels but not today champions FOH,” he explained on Instagram.
“I did a freestyle called ‘Crow Bars’ watching the footage of these low life’s going thru my shit smh. If you know these clowns tag em in the comments I got cash for you.”
Accompanied by actual CCTV footage of the break-in, the track finds Hit-Boy recounting the experience and gloating that the criminals “didn’t touch a legend, didn’t touch nothing of worth.”
“They brought crow bars and left with karma / They took my gloves but not my honor / Looked over the Grammys, looked over the gold / And they didn’t touch my kit or my beats or my soul, n*gga,” he defiantly raps over jazzy, horn- and piano-laced production.
