Man As The Years Go By Hip Hop Has Grown From When It Started And I've Seen And Heard Lot's Of Different Rappers And Heard All Of There Different Rap Styles And What Knot But Shit It Seem Like During The Days Of Grandmaster Flash And KRS-One And All The Other Old Kats Music Was Really Good And The Vibes To The Songs Were Really Good, Hip Hop Had Alot Of Flavor With The Breakdancing And The Turntables And Just Real Raw Shit.

But Now Music Has Really Lost It's Soul And The Real Lyrical Ways Rap Use To Have From Back In The Days.

In 96 Hip Hop Was Half Way Dead When Tupac Died, And In 97 Hip Hop Died Officially When Notorious B.I.G. Passed Away

There Have Never Since Those Days Been Rappers On There Levels Yet And This Is 2007 That's A Shame.

Now New School Rappers And Music Industry People Are Trying To Imitate The Old 80's And 90's Styles By Wearing The Big Chains And Getting The Old School Haircuts Doing Old Dance Moves, Sampling Old Tracks.

Damn Niggas Need To Create There Own New Styles And New Materials That's Why This Fucking World Will Forever Be At A Standstill Shit Just Keep Being The Same.

I Officially Say That "Hip Hop Is Dead"

Nas said Hip-Hop is dead. I think his statement was a lil more official than yours. Thanks, but no thanks.

Hip Hop died for me due to this....

BIG L

BIGGIE

BIG PUN

these were my favorites

And not one of my fave's but 2pac, when he passed alot changed, Jay-Z became a star and after that it just became too commercial and the game became a straight hustle....thanx Master P... :smh: :smh: ..then Cash Money followed... :smh: :smh: :smh: i hate hip hop today, i stick with the classics from the early 90's...and late 80's, mid 80's also at times.
Co-Sign, Me Too I Stick To The Classics Also.

What the fuck? Ya'll forget Nas is one of the greats? Hell the GREATEST! However hip hop can't survive by only one person, and style alone. Nas, Pac, Big, Pun, were original and brought something completely new to the genre. They had the biggest impact on hip hop before it went down hill. Everything after them in their prime, is just a cheap imitation. It can quench your thirst, but it can't keep you hydrated.

Hip Hop isnt progressing because people are STUCK on listening ONLY to pac and BIG as if they were the only cats that had skills. There are MANY MANY dope hip hop artists out, before and after pac and big, but if people dont want to be open minded then thats where stagnancy becomes complacent.

Am I the only one who notices that NO ONE was saying Pac and Big were the greatest until AFTER they died?

They Were Great When They Were Alive More Just Imagine If Pac Was Still Alive, He Was Getting Ready To Do More Movie Roles And Expand His Music Genius Mind By Writing More Books I Heard, And As For B.I.G. He Was Bout To Expand His Music Mind Also, We Just Never Got To See It, So We Just Got Memories And Old Songs To Live Off Of From Them.

I swear....I saw a 10 year old with a little "Hip Hop is Dead" shirt on. NOw what the hell does this 10 year old know about hip-hop? That alone shows that this "Hip-Hop is Dead" movement is sustaining the music and culture. It's not going anywhere.

The "Hip-Hop is Dead" movement is sustaining a portion of it alone, other portions have evolved and estranged themselves, but ten years from now we'll be saying "Nuh uh that's Hip Hop."

I can't help but feel if the greats returned with new, modern material that didn't bow to the gimmicks of today's hip hop then we'd have something to really look forward to. For example Rakim was due to release an album with nothing but Dre producing tracks. Sadly this hasn't come to pass yet but I can't help but feel as though that would be something special if it didn't cater to the mainstream.
Look at Big Daddy Kane. Even in 2007 he is a monster when featured on tracks. Can you imagine him releasing a new album with Primo, Pete Rock etc. on the beats. I'd be buying it.
Unfortunately old greats are now wanting to get that money they didn't get when they were at the height of fame. LL Cool J is an example.
I can't help but feel that if hip hop returned to its original formula it'd do better.

I Agree With Ya Dude, I Feel The Same Way.

"Hip Hop Will Never Be The Same Without The Greats"

Of course it will never be the same, because the music is always evolving.....and new greats will come and make their marks in Hip Hop and go as well.

Naw, out here on the West Coast people were claiming Pac to be the best from the beginning. It's just most people noticed after he passed how good he really was....
