The Apollo Theater pays tribute to Prince
NEW YORK – Music icon Prince may be gone but his life and work will be commemorated at events throughout New York City.

Also in Brooklyn, director Spike Lee will hold an event of his own at 40 Acres between DeKalb and Lafayette avenues.

Lee wrote on his Instagram post to wear something purple and “we will dance, sing and shout to his music.”

Meanwhile, the Apollo Theater’s marque honored Prince with lyrics of his well-known hit “Purple Rain”

Questlove, drummer for the Grammy-award winning band the Roots, will pay tribute to his mentor and friend at the Brooklyn Bowl at 11 p.m. Thursday.

The legendary musician whose innovative and flamboyant style has influenced pop culture for decades was found dead at his Paisley Park estate Thursday, his publicist told the Associated Press. He was 57.
