  • Hennessey Performance pre-empted next week's launch of the hotly anticipated launch of the Dodge Demon drag racing-optimized muscle car with the announcement of the 1,000-horsepower Exorcist Chevrolet Camaro.

The Exorcist will make a parallel public debut when it is unveiled in its home state of Texas at the Houston Auto Show while the Demon is introduced at the New York International Auto Show.

2017 Camaro ZL1, then adds the $55,000 Exorcist upgrade, which includes a larger, higher flowing supercharger and intercooler, ported factory cylinder heads, a hotter camshaft, long-tube stainless steel headers, high-flow air induction system and custom engine management calibration.

The Exorcist upgrade is available for both 6-speed manual and 10-speed automatic equipped ZL1 Camaros, though the automatic requires another $9,950 worth of improvements so the transmission can withstand the fury of the engine's 996 lb.-ft. of torque.

“Equipped with rear drag radial tires, the Exorcist will deliver 0-to-60 mph times under three seconds while running the quarter-mile in less than ten seconds,” said company founder and president, John Hennessey.

“However, the Exorcist is not just a quarter-mile racer," he insists. "It’s a well-rounded super muscle car that is just as happy on a road course as it is on the dragstrip and street.”

Hennessey offers an optional drag pack that includes a pair of 20 inch wheels with 315/30-20 Nitto drag radial tires, drive shaft upgrade, floor jack and tool kit for $8,995. Road racers can specify a set of 20 inch lightweight Hennessey wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires instead for $6,995.

The Exorcist is available as a new turnkey vehicle from Hennessey and can also be ordered directly from Chevrolet dealers. ZL1 Camaro owners can also send their vehicles to HPE for the conversion.

Hennessy reliability aint shit. Just mod a Zl1 piece by piece. Long tubes, cam, pulleys, computer upgrade, dump the goodyears for some Cup 2's, etc. Way cheaper than paying Hennessy.

HP is a horror show. My homie basically destroyed his Z07 pack Vette modding it from HP & he paid twice the price to get fucked.

Hell yeah!

If you're going to settle for an American car it's gotta be a GM product!
Dodge is trash!

I have a 2017 SS vert and my ish is quick....I can just imagine how these dudes feel. I dont drag race so Im good where im at. I MIGHT add a supercharger in the future but if Ima do it then ima do it right. For everything should hit for around $12-15 stacks.

This how i wanna do mine futurewise. Ol boys Camaro is a beast for an SS

But first im getting my ground effects to match the top and interior.
