anyone know how I can get free access to information on forclosed homes? I want to locate forclosed homes in my area so I can see about buying them.

It depends on what exactly your trying to do. If you want to get at a distressed property before it goes into bank foreclosure there is no publicly available list that I know of. If your trying to get at a property after the bank foreclosure proceedings have been initiated but before the actual foreclosure sale, you can look in the public notice section of your city/county newspaper. If you want to access info on city initiated foreclosures, there is a list that comes out once a year about 4 months before the sale that is publicly available. What state are you in?

If you want to get properties before they are foreclosed on try peter's advice, go your county's website or the courthouse for the most up to date info on properties going into foreclosure. There are also realtors in most cities that specialized in these "bank-owened" properties. Hustle hard!
