What up fam , I need to know what SOCIALISM is really. Yeah I know I googled it and got the Websters definition but can someone break it down for me in laymen terms. I'm tired of this being the catch phrase of the Republican supporters and not fully understanding it myself. Thanks

I was just watching the first round of games yesterday with a few ex co-workers. One of them was from the Czech Republic and he said that he found it hilarious (and somewhat maddening) that so many Americans throw around the term "socialist" without having any idea about what it really is.
socialism is like really really cool, like pensions are cool. Employment insurance is knarley, and having a social safety net is bad-ass. Without socialism, there would be no social security, and without that we have tons of homeless seniors.
