Neuroanatomist Jill Bolte Taylor had an opportunity few brain scientists would wish for: One morning, she realized she was having a massive stroke. As it happened -- as she felt her brain functions slip away one by one, speech, movement, understanding -- she studied and remembered every moment. This is a powerful story about how our brains define us and connect us to the world and to one another.

WOW. . I surprisingly watched the whole video. It's amazing that she can remember that much detail. Very interesting .. .

Wow LS a thread about a stroke, instead of stroking. Is this the right vid? :D

Important post thanks.

Great video LS!

The neural basis and mechanics of consciousness, it's psychophysics and relationship to quantum mechanics has always fascinated me.

V.S. Ramachandran is one of my favorite speakers in this field. He's a neurologist best known for his work in the fields of behavioral neurology.

The video is part 1 of a lecture series in the "Beyond Belief" conference back in 2006.

In this lecture, he discusses his work on finding the neural basis for synesthesia - a neurologically based phenomenon in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway.

For instance, in color-synesthasia (grapheme), letters or numbers are perceived as inherently associated with specific colors.

Absolutely... If you could tap into your inner person and learn that you're a part of everyone and everything around you. How transformative would that be for everyone.
I had a very very similar experience, when I was HIGH AS SHIT.:lol:
