Have you noticed the black gangster image getting more sophisticated or friendly ???

Is it me or are these shows now moving away from that O-Dog, Omar type to the more family friendly thug?

I guess it started with Stinger Bell, but especially Lemond Bishop on the Good Wife who comes off as the total opposite of what he is.

It may be nothing but I'm always curious about how the media shapes the black male image.

Meh. You've only listed 2 shows that have given Black actors the opportunity to play the kind of complex villain White actors have always had the chance to play.

Bishop has been a character on The Good Wife for years, he happens to play a prominent role so far this season. That show always go for the more complex tale over the easy cookie cutter storyline.

Sutter also likes to tell his stories with many different types of people. Pope & Bishop on SOA are not really that different from the Aryan leader from a few seasons back. They all show themselves as respectable businessmen, when in fact they are ruthless at their core.

Keep in mind, the characters I dropped are actual criminals, monsters even.

In a way, Power portrays the same image but give 50 props for putting his white partner in a worst light.

With more folks going to college and assimilating into their offices, its to subconsciously remind europeans that although they talk like us, look like us, that they are nefarious characters up to no good. Then again, the folks in the godfather movies were well dress.

i have posted in the past who controls the media.....and the subliminal effects it has....but those posts are usually overlooked in favor of who has a real ass or some trivial shit

I think they always framed the message. But I dont have the knowledge of the world from family members because im not from here. But talking to certain folks, i inferred that someone European was always in the back ground.
