I keep listening to a song that Badu had on her latest joint... in the song she and Georgia Ann Muldrow ask the question "what if there weren't any niggas just master teachers" I mull over the lyrics and wonder if I have ever been taught personally by a Master teacher...

In my own one on one experience I can say that I have...
first and foremost Ashra Kwesi... my teacher falls under the line of Dr. Clarke and Dr. Ben.. I had the opportunity to go to Kemt (Egypt) with him and his wife, and his research and analysis is almost second to none in the field of so called Egyptology... along with his wife, this man is mos def a living embodiment of what a teacher should be...

was taught by a professor named Ward Churchill... dood was blackballed by CSU because of his radical cultural classes, and his books about the secret government and cointellpro... a gem when it comes to native american history, and native oral tradition...

As far as teachers who i had limited exposure, I would have to say Dr Phil Valentine, Kwame Ture (rip) Frances Cress... Toni Morrison... Cornell West, Eric Dyson, and Angela Davis...

My question to the fam is 1) what qualifies a person to call themselves a master teacher? 2) Have you ever had one? 3) Do you aspire to be one? and what field do you plan to master?

I STAY WOKE!!!!!

Man I would love to do that tour with Ashra and Merira.

As far as "Masters" Ive studied with martial arts, Qi Gong and  funk masters. Are you looking for experiences or just taking a poll?

I love that song by Badu, and her album is goes so deep, that it flies over the heads of many. But getting back to the master teacher thing, I've have many master teachers in my days, funny some of my master teacher were originally some of my professor, who later on became my friend, in real life. There are master teachers here on BGOL who always bring up interesting content, that is design to expand your thought cypher.

Interesting figure... Were you taught by him at CSU or after he was fired? I don't know what he's up to since.

I studied the teachings of all the names you mentioned in addition to Dr. Malachi Z. York. All of them have their flaws. All of them teach some kind of bullshit. After studying for over 20 years, I have come to the conclusion that Experience is my Master Teacher. Whats right and Whats Wrong don't mean shit since Perception is Accepted Reality.

Rarely? I can't say that I've ever heard shit about it...

I am a big fan of what I have read from him.

I don't have the time to dig back into it now but are you aware of the controversy regarding his native descent being called into question?

Ethnic background

In 2003, Churchill stated, "I am myself of Muscogee and Creek[17] descent on my father's side, Cherokee on my mother's, and am an enrolled member of the United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians."[18][19] In 1992, Churchill wrote elsewhere that he is one-eighth Creek and one-sixteenth Cherokee.[20] In 1993, Churchill told the Colorado Daily that, "he was one-sixteenth Creek and Cherokee."[21] Churchill told the Denver Post in February 2005 that he is three-sixteenths Cherokee.[11]

The United Keetoowah Band clarified that Churchill was never an enrolled member, but was awarded an honorary associate membership in May 1994, as were Bill Clinton and others;[22][23] honorary associate membership recognizes assistance to the tribe, but does not indicate Indian ancestry or enrollment.[24] The Keetoowah Band states that Churchill still holds the honorary associate membership, that it hasn't been rescinded, and that the Keetoowah Band stopped recognizing such memberships in 1994.[24][25][26]

The Rocky Mountain News, in 2005, published a genealogy of Churchill, and reported "no evidence of a single Indian ancestor" [of Churchill's]. The News reported that both of Churchill's birth parents were listed as white on the 1930 census, as were all of his other known ancestors on previous censuses and other official documents.[27] However, it confirmed that there had been a longstanding belief in Indian ancestry in Churchill's family.[27]

Documents in Churchill's university personnel file show that he was granted tenure in a "special opportunity position."[14] Such positions were later described as a program designed to help "recruit and hire a more diverse faculty."[28] In 1994, then CU-Boulder Chancellor James Corbridge refused to take action on allegations that Churchill was fraudulently claiming to be an Indian, saying "it has always been university policy that a person's race or ethnicity is self-proving."[29]

Some of Churchill's critics, such as Vernon Bellecourt and Suzan Shown Harjo, argue that his assertion of Native American ancestry without the ability to prove it might constitute misrepresentation and grounds for termination. The University, however, has stated in response that they do not hire on the basis of ethnicity.[29] The University of Colorado's Research Misconduct Committee conducted a preliminary investigation into whether Churchill misrepresented his ethnicity in order to "add credibility and public acceptance to his scholarship";[30] they concluded that the allegation was not "appropriate for further investigation under the definition of research misconduct."[31]

In an interview in The Rocky Mountain News, Churchill stated: "I have never been confirmed as having one-quarter blood, and never said I was. And even if [the critics] are absolutely right, what does that have to do with this issue? I have never claimed to be goddamned Sitting Bull".[32]

Churchill has countered requests for verification of his Indian heritage in various ways including attacking the basis on which some Native American tribes establish their membership requirements. Churchill argues that the United States instituted "blood quantum" laws based upon rules of descendency in order to further goals of personal enrichment and political expediency.[33][34]

Fam, please remember that people placed in your life (from your will) are not Gods. That person may have a tremendous amount of wisdom to impart on you but that does not excuse the person of having the faults of a human. Don't let the fact that they suffer from the same shortcomings that we do taint their teachings. While they are human, their words are derived from a divine source. That should be all you're concerned with.

But Dwight York taught primarily fiction..whereas these brothers are teaching known history (But I agree, some of them exaggerate). But you can't compare them to Dwight York's outlandish alien nonsense.. saying he was from another planet of reptilian creatures.
