Living and growing up in Miami, it was only a matter of time before somebody that knows somebody that wants you to "help" them get a green card. I was in my early twenties and was still friends with my ex's family. They thought I was a good dude and treated me like fam.

Well, they had a family member who was the cousin of my ex they wanted to get a green card for. She was visiting on a tourist visa but they wanted her to stay and live in the US. I went by to meet her and see what was up. She was actually attractive. In fact, she was better looking than my ex. They offered me $3500 at the time.

Now $3.5k was big money for a young 20-something living in a small apartment and working 2 jobs. I thought long and hard about it. I was talking to the girl every day but there was something strange about her. She was cool but she showed no emotion. It was like she was just blasé about everything.

I was thinking that it would be a situation where we would get married and she would stay at her family's place until we get interviewed or something. But she was like, nah, I will come stay at your place. You know, to make it look real. So I started prying with question about the living "arrangements" at my place. I have absolutely no regrets. Thinking back on it, I made the right decision. I continued to have the time of my young life down there.
