By now we are all well aware of the allegations surrounding Illinois Governor Blagojevich's attempt to sell or gain some kind of personal advantage from the replacement to President-elect Barack Obama's former senate seat.

BUT NOW THIS:

Harry Reid

  • <font size="3">According to Reports, Harry Reid (from NEVADA) made it clear who he didn’t want Jesse Jackson, Jr., Danny Davis or Emil Jones (all Black from Illiniois) appointed to the senate seat. </font size>

  • <font size="3">But, Blago did appoint an African American from Illiniois - - Roland Burris -- the former Attorney General for the State of Illinois. </font size> </font size>

Reid, as well as other Senators, have vowed to block
Burris from taking office.

  • <font size="3">Prince Riley, a senior consultant to Roland Burris has stated to the Politico website, regarding Harry Ried's attempt to block Burris from taking the seat vacated by Obama: “It’s interesting that all those who are viable according to Harry Reid are white women and the ones who are unacceptable to Harry Reid are black men.”

The U.S. attorney's office in Chicago has released a transcript of a secretly recorded phone call between the brother of former Gov. Rod Blagojevich and U.S. Sen. Roland Burris, <SPAN style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffff00">a call in which Burris, then seeking the Senate seat, was recorded offering the Blagojevich campaign a campaign check</span>, The Chicago Tribune reported.

<SPAN style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffff00">"I know I could give him a check," Burris said. "Myself." </span>

But in the same call, Burris tells Robert Blagojevich he is concerned he and Rod Blagojevich will "catch hell."

<SPAN style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffff00">"And if I do get appointed that means I bought it,"</span> Burris said.

<SPAN style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffff00">"And, and God knows number one, I, I wanna help Rod," Burris </span>says later in the call.<SPAN style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffff00"> "Number two, I also wanna, you know, hope I get a consideration to get that appointment." </span>

Burris was recorded saying the timing would be crucial to how the fundraising would be perceived, the newspaper reported.

"And however that goes, ah, it would dictate, ah, you know how the press treats it," he said.

"Understand," Rob Blagojevich answered.

"'Cause man, I, I will be, you know we both would be profiled," Burris continued. "And we don't need that."

A federal judge said Tuesday he would allow the U.S. Senate Ethics Committee to have a federal wiretap of the Blagojevich's brother having a phone conversation with Burris.

I don’t know how valid these allegations are, but in reference to Harry Reid, he is the chief impediment to progress in the Senate. It is no secret the GOP has made his seat one of the targets in the 2010 election cycle. I wouldn’t mind seeing him replaced. Reid has shown no “balls” in challenging the republicans. Hopefully everything will come out clean during the “wash.”
