Halo 3 Disc Read Errors Rampant

A storm is brewing in both the Xbox and Bungie forums, where over a hundred posters have now verified that their copies of Halo 3 are causing disc read errors. lockups, and even the dreaded RRoD on their Xbox 360 consoles. From what I can glean from skimming through the 22 pages of replies to the original poster's problem, most of the people affected purchased the standard edition, though a few are reporting having the problem on both the standard and the LE version of the game. Some believe the discs are corrupting the data on the hard disc itself, as some have had their game discs replaced twice or more now with similar results, and removing the hard disc seems to keep the error from occurring with some posters. Some can load the game fine and play it for short bursts before the problem occurs, while others are finding the issue limited to certain game modes. Check out the forum threads for more info on the problems had, and hopefully some official response will be given about the issue soon.

hey I got both systems and my 360 started freezing but the fucked up thing is i have the intercooler on the back.

I don;t want to send it back unless i have to cause nba 2k8 comes out next week and i know more niggaz on live than sony.

I called X box they told me the clear harddrive cache or something tried that it stills happens. I don't have no red lights it just freezes sometimes and if i take everything apart and plug everything back in it works.

anyone heard of this??

so if you have an older 360 that heats up, the intercooler makes the 360 work harder thereby heating it up even more

I have a launch 360 and have had no issues. Also i hope you dont have it in a entertainment center all closed in. I don't have a intercooler on mine.

Sounds like a hard drive issue to me. They should try clearing the systems hardrive cache. And also the trick that erases all of the software patches.

Well I bought the Limited Edition. When I got my shit home I took it out the bag and before I opened it I realized that there was a disk bouncing around inside. I opened it and YUP the fuckin little black nubs they used to hold the disks aint worth shit. The loose disk was the game disk not the fucking disk that has the extras. I looked at it and saw these faint little scratches. So now I guess I'm just waiting for that shit to give me an error before I go back to Walmart and try to return it.

i don't know if I should keep purchasing X-Box games I asked the guy on the phone has someone ever had to send in a x-box that has been repaired he said he is not authorized to release that information. I asked can I speak to someone who can long story short not even the supervisor would answer.

Bungie investigating Halo 3 game save bug

Bungie has confirmed that it is aware of an issue which prevents Halo 3 gamers transferring campaign progress onto another Xbox 360 regardless of whether they use a memory unit or take your hard drive. A message churns out stating that it is 'unsafe to respawn' which then takes gamers back to the menu screen. Bungie are now investingating the cause of the problem and are trying to come up with a solution.

A gamer who claims to have tested sixty Xbox 360 games has stated that all are 720p except two 1080p in the form of VT3 and NBA Street, two in 600p in the form of PGR 3 and Tomb Raider and two are in 640p in the form of Perfect Dark and HALO 3.
